Very very disappointing!

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 22, 2023
What a disappointment my stay was. When the hotel was DusitD2, I had a 6 day stay there for 4 consecutive years then COVID hit. Under new owners, this Oct. I have experienced a very disappointing stay. I booked a deluxe King room for 4 nights. The first night at about 10:00 the room presented cockroaches. When reported, soon thereafter I was located to a different room not a "deluxe" King room. In order to move, I had to repack all my belonging & had to "request" that someone be sent to my room to assist with the relocation. I am 76 so none of this was easy. So now at 11 pm. I had to unpack & arrange everything again. It was exhausting. There were no hooks on which to hang a bathrobe, etc. anywhere. In daytime, there was construction noise from this room. The vanity mirror had been broken off & disappeared, & there was no TV over the bathtub. Not that I needed one - I'm just pointing out one of the downgrades. I talked with the hotel manager the following morning. I was kind & understanding. Nothing was offered to kind of make up for all that I had experienced. I will write that ALL of the service staff were ever so nice & the pool area was lovely. I will declare that I will never stay there again & I will make sure that my friends are warned away from the Pasadena Hotel & pool.

Room Tip: For $1900 for 4 nights stay it was a very unsatisfactory stay complete with cockroaches, a change...

Don't expect coffee or anything, you pay all these extra fees to access the gym and pool but if you don't care to you still pay them but can't get a coffee or muffin. Whatever! I'm not sure if all of the taxes are mandatory because the rose and crown up the road don't have the same fees and offer a kick ass breakfast and coffee to their guest. I'm assuming the hotel is passing on fees that they are obligated to pay, I can only assume due to the lack of transparency. I have to note that all of the employees were polite. Also, don't bother purchasing food here because it is overpriced and underwhelming!

Hotel staff is very kind. Everyone seems to be in a great mood and says hello. We stayed in the One bedroom King suite for four nights. The room is clean, spacious, and great for entertaining. Two minor inconveniences: 1) The closet is very small, and 2) there is no microwave. These are not going to stop us from visiting again, but good to know you can't warm leftovers. The interior of the main lobby is beautiful. The room itself is comfortable with plenty of seating.

It is an ok place, but the rooms have no kettle, coffee maker, or microwave. The hotel's bar is not meant for food. The gym is very small. In general, it is clean but I could smell swege from my room in the 2nd floor. My last stay was on the 5th floor and I didn't smell it then. I wouldn't recommend it for stays more than a day.

Raucous neighbors kept us awake from1-4 am. Called front desk 3 times and they were kind, but not super effective. The room was average at best, but the bed comfortable. The pool is probably the nicest part of the property. If you need a manager during the weekend, you’re out of luck… We were told they don’t work on the weekends.

The hotel is well situated on East Colorado Blvd. near restaurants, shops and other Pasadena attractions. I also like that this 1926 building has preserved some of its original charm, particularly in the lobby area.

An extensive remodel of the hotel took place within the last several years — “modernizing” the guest rooms. We booked a 7th floor king sized bedroom with a pool view, at some considerable cost. (About $900.00 all in for two nights) The room was very tiny in size. The open area bathroom (no separate room from the rest of the bedroom) had an “artistically” partially frosted glass door to the toilet and shower. The toilet was about 6 feet from the head of the bed, and every intestinal distress could be clearly heard.

I believe the water was softened which is nice when you’re taking a shower, but is probably not healthy to drink, which I did, because there were no bottles of water in the room at all — even for purchase. There were two single use plastic cups provided — not glass, which reeked of cheapness to me.

Parking was an additional per day charge. The front desk man was curt and not welcoming at all. The baristas at the downstairs breakfast bar were all very pleasant however.

All in all, I felt that this hotel is not worth the top dollar it charges. I would not book here again.
