The positive reviews drew us to this perfect small motel right in Paso Robles. The room was spotless, crisp cotton sheets, very comfortable bed and most welcoming hosts. Pretty garden around the motel reflects the care that is evident overall. Can't wait to return next year.

It is also very short walking distance to all the galleries, restaurants, wine tasting rooms and shops that Paso Robles features. A great place to visit!

Stepping into the office at Melody Ranch one sees a row of photo post cards of the motel, each taken from the same vantage point across the street over a period of decades. The buildings don’t change; the towering oak tree gets larger year by year - only the cars outside the motel vary as they change from 1957 through the most recent years.
The motel has been owned by the same family since 1960, operated by three generations of a caring family. Incredibly, the interiors of each room are preserved in 1960’s splendor, with little change except for new beds, addition of wall air conditioning and flatscreen TV’s.
Mahogany doors, ceramic tile, plumbing fixtures and more are all lovingly maintained as they were installed in the 1950’s or 60’s. Pride of ownership and care in operation are readily evident.
“It may not be everyone’s cup of tea”, the patriarch of the family said to me. But if you dig mid-century design in motor hotels this place could be for you. Joe-bob sez: check it out.

This motel is quite dated so if you are looking for modern luxury and amenities this is not the place for you. This place could have easily earned 3 or even 2 if it turned out to be a dive but for it was the exact opposite so I gave it a 4.
There are a lot of concerts in Paso, they have the vina Robles venue and of course the mid state fair with a lot of bands. If you can even get a room when there is a concert ,be prepared to fork out some serious cash for the newer hotels.
Melody ranch bucks that trend ,it's cheap compared to many other hotels on concert nights. On top of that the location is fantastic, one block away from the town center square with plenty of shops and some very good restaurants. Friendly service at the front desk, the older rooms are clean and the whole place receives plenty of TLC by the looks of it. I have already booked it for my next concert !!!

We get spoiled easy; We could hardly watch their lousy “standard definition”, SDTV. The rate was $110us/ $151c. A little above average for our month long road trip down and back up the coast.

Paso Robles is a neat town that makes some of the best wines in California, IMO. After we got checked into the motel we went out for a lovely Thai dinner at Basil Thai, downtown Paso Robles. See separate review!

The Melody Ranch Motel is a charming, vintage and affordably priced motel. It is centrally located on Spring St in old Paso Robles. This nostalgic motel was built in the late 50s and is very well maintained. There is a small out door swimming pool to entertaining the kids. Our room and toilet was clean and comfortable. The mattress to our beds were firm. There was a coffee maker, small frig and an air conditioner in our room. We booked our one night thru Booking.com and the price for a Friday night was just over $100.00 with tax. There are many nearby restaurants and entertainment options i.e. fine dining, shopping and a movie theater all within walking distant. The manager Frank was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to visit and where to dine.

Room tip: This is a one story structure with parking located in front of your room.
