“Great place to stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 December 2011

This is our second visit to the Black Oak Best Western. We stayed here a year ago , and were just as pleased as we were the first time. Our room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom and dressing area were also spotless. The sheets on the bed were soft, and there were several pillows to use. Besides the microwave and small ref., the room had a large flat-screen T.V. We had breakfast vouchers to use at their on site restaurant, and we certainly got our money's worth! The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the people at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful.

My husband and I came up to Paso Robles on very short notice. I was able to make reservations with no problems the night before we arrived. The room is very clean and functional. In the room you will find a desk and chair, a recliner next to the bed to relax in while watching tv or reading, a very comfy bed, a mini microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot. The bathroom has a shower and tub and outside the bathroom is the bathroom sink with a vanity area and great vanity lighting. There's also a ceiling fan w/lights in the same area.

We paid $89 for Friday and $100 for Saturday. Well worth it. The staff is very accommodating. If you are going to arrive late ( like midnight, as we always do) no problem. Just call and let the front desk know. There is always someone in the front office. They also have a diner onsight and the front office will give you coupons for $5 off your breakfast. We typically stay in B&Bs when we go to Paso but the stay here was worth it and it's seconds from beautiful downtown Paso Robles. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: I would definitely stay on the upper floors, its quieter.

My wife and I always take a 2 night anniversary trip following Thanksgiving. We thought we'd like to visit some of Paso's 250 wineries and needed a place to stay. We noticed a lot of positive reviews on this site. It was a great choice. They exceeded our already high expectations. Their staff was very helpful in suggesting locations for wine tasting and events taking place in the area, Check in was easy, the room was spacious (really liked the recliner) and clean. The grounds and pool area were nicely landscaped and well cared for. Our room was very quiet, especially with its proximity to the highway
.
A special note: My wife forgot some clothing and earrings that she left in the dresser. She called the following day to see if they turned up. They had, and they mailed them to us without charging postage or anything. We are planning on returning for our next anniversary if not before, and have already recommended them to several friends.

Room was a little small, but for the price ($89) this hotel is a great value. Has a bath tub, real tile, very clean, ref, microwave, in room coffee mattress gave us a good nights sleep, next to bars and restaurants. Overall a great place. We went for one night to go to a wine tasting party, we stayed in room #206 and were very satisfird. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and you do not have to be wary of this one!

We have travelled extensively and i don't usually write reviews. But we stayed at this property for four nights last weekend and were so impressed. They think of providing guests with the smallest of details and were so helpful and friendly. There were many other family members staying here from across the country and they all felt the same way.

Room Tip: Perhaps away from the stairways

We usually stay with friends at The Canyon Villa B & B in Paso on our frequent visits. However, while here for a wine event, other friends of ours booked out the 4 rooms at the B & B, so we stayed at The Best Western Black Oak. I heard they recently renovated the rooms, which were nicely appointed, very clean, roomy and had all of the amenities. The price was very affordable at $89/nt. (AAA disc) for this weekend. The office staff was very friendly as well. Margie's Diner is on the premesis for a quick breakfast. Best Western provided $5 vouchers to apply to breakfast.

From the moment you pull up at the registration entrance this hotel just does it right. You feel like you have arrived in an oasis. The property is beautifully landscaped. It is located on a quiet road. I doubt there is a poorly situated room in the place.

The rooms are large and ours was laid out to allow you to use the desk and see the tv and the rest of the room without craning your neck. The pool is located in the middle of the complex with an adjoining hot tub. The whole area is clean and well maintained.

This hotel sets a new standard for me, I am not sure why it is only a Best Western plus.
