If you're a true fan of golf, then this is your Mecca, (or at least one of them). Now i'm speaking primarily about the golf course of course, but the accommodations match nicely to the course. Well appointed rooms, with very comfortable beds. Mine had a fireplace which was nice. I was there on a guys trip, and as great as that was, the restaurants, grounds, and beautiful rooms, left me thinking that this place is just as beautiful for a couples getaway (preferably golfers) than any other place i've been. Things are pricey, rooms, food, drink, golf, souvenirs.... everything, but just do it and bring a camera! Once in a lifetime...

Fantastic place to stay. Everything was 5 star. The rooms were very clean and the views spectacular. Its an expensive event but well worth the money. Golf was great too.

Room Tip: get a view to the 18th if possible.

First off, we had just spectacular weather to play. The views are more awesome in person than on TV and the golf is everything you'd want. Our room had a balcony overlooking 18 green and was all a 5 star hotel should be. Service is impeccable from the moment you arrive -

Now I have to figure out how and when to get back for more

My husband and I stayed here on a golf trip to Pebble Beach. This is my third time staying at this resort spread out over 6 years. I definitely have mixed ideas about how I feel.

As other reviews say, it is pricey, but a golfer's dream. I agree. I also agree with those reviews from families that stayed and found it unbearable, with not a lot to do on property that is affordable.

The good things first! Rooms are large and feel more like a room in your house rather than a typical hotel room. Ours had a king size bed, a couch seating area in front of the fireplace, a terrace with a view of the 18th hole, very large bathroom with 2 sinks, large tub and large shower. We also saw a similar room with 2 double beds that actually seemed even larger. The beds were comfortable and the fireplace easy to use. Pebble supplies each room with quality alcohol and a full refrigerator, however the prices are double if you use them. I recommend walking down the block to the Market behind the shops and purchase any food or liquor there. There is also a large closet and safe. The only chest of drawers for clothing was inconveniently located.

There is a very nice workout facility located near the beach which is free. The equipment seemed fairly new and has a spectacular view of the bay making working out a joy. There is a separate room for various classes and another room with weight equipment. The pool is located outside and even with colder weather, it was enjoyable to sit in the padded lounge chairs and the pool temperature was kept warm. All very good!

The bad things next. First is Noise! Walls are thin and seals around doors are loose. You hear everything! The people showering on both sides as well as above you. You hear the service golf carts and cars in the parking lot. You hear the workers on the course. If you are unlucky and are put next to men on a "guys trip" the late night drunken entrances to rooms are all heard. Certainly not family friendly.

Second was the inconsistent service. It started at check-in when we were given a room with two double beds rather than a king. As a married couple, we thought it odd that they did not at least ask before assigning the room. When we got to the room and realized it was a double, we had to ask to transfer to a king bedroom. They accommodated us, but it was inconvenient for these tired travelers.

Then there was room service. I would often stay in the room until 9 am then leave to workout. If your room was not available before 9am, it did not get cleaned unless you called and asked them to do it. I found that inconvenient. When they serviced the room, often the coffee and condiments were not restocked. All this is petty, but when you pay the big bucks for a room, you also expect these little things to be non-existent. It was definitely disappointing.

Weather is often a problem here. The natives say the fog off the ocean carries the water inland. All three times I have been here, it has rained and rarely been sunny. We almost always come in February however so other months may be better.

You can see that the Lodge and rooms are aging, but it adds to the historical atmosphere. People are definitely friendly.

The Lodge offers to loan cars or take you places in their van. This is a very nice service. I still recommend renting a car so you can see 17 mile drive at your own pace, or go down to Big Sur. We also did a day trip to the wineries. All were well worth it.

My advice is definitely stay here on a "man outing", it works out ok as a couple's trip, but maybe not the best for families.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the 18th green with a patio outside.

Stayed recently. First time at Pebble Beach and will be going back. Room was on 18th fairway/green, brilliant view. Rooms appointed well, fireplace a nice touch. Staff & service excellent. Food quality excellent as well. Spendy but worth it, save up and enjoy a great experience if you are a fan of golf.

Recently my husband and I stayed at The Lodge at Pebble Beach. Our room was fantastic, large, with a private patio, adjoining rooms, and each with it's own wood burning fireplace that we used every night we were there. My husband golf all 3 of the Pebble Beach courses while I enjoyed the spa service, 17 mile drive, horseback riding, and shopping in Monterrey and Carmel. I enjoyed breakfast each morning at Stillwater Bar and Grill which had amazing ocean views and we met each evening at The Tap Room for cocktails before heading out to dinner.
Do not know if we will ever make it back, but it was a definite "Bucket List" check for all in our party!
