We have stayed at the Hotel Mac in Point Richmond before and had always liked it. Our last visit in June, 2011, met all our expectations. We stayed in the Highcliff Room for 4 days while visiting our daughter and our first grandaughter. The room is beautifully appointed and meticulously clean. It was not large but we mostly slept there so it was more than adequate. The bathroom was large and clean. Everything was so well kept that it looked like it had just been remodelled.

Street parking is limited but the hotel provides parking in a locked lot for the guests.

The "complimentary continental breakfast" is provided as a $5 coupon per person per day for breakfast at Little Louie's Cafe just across the street, which is owned and run by the same local family which owns the Hotel Mac. The fresh bakery and fruit were plenty for me. My husband usually went with a heartier breakfast and everything he tried was great. The Cafe is cute and the staff was attentive. I have heard service may be slow on busy dyas but we did not experience this. The bran muffins and fresh orange juice are to-die-for.

Point Richmond is a neat neighborhood with a small town feel. There are 14 restaurants in the few blocks of "downtown." We did not have time to explore all the interesting shops - playing with our grandbaby was our primary occupation.

The only down side to the Hotel Mac was the noise from the restaurant dumpster. We had our window open for fresh air and even though we were on the third floor, the noise from the restaurant throwing glass bottles into the dumpster several times late in the evening was quite annoying. Then, about 5 AM one morning, there were dumpster divers digging through the trash to get the recyclables. Another morning, the trash truck came at 4:30 AM. I'm not sure how they could reduce this noise - maybe request that the restaurant hold throwing out the glass until when they open the next day and ask the trash truck to come later.

We are going in August and this time we will stay in a suite in the Annex. This is a newer building down the street, adjacent to the parking lot. We have been warned that the noise form the trains switching on the nearby tracks may be louder in the Annex but I'm sure it won't be as bad as the glass bottles breaking in the dumpster.

An historic building with comfortable and spacious rooms. You'll feel more like you're staying in an excellent guest room (or suite) at a friend's house. The furnishings and decor are far more personal than in any big chain.

Area is quiet in the evening and so is the hotel, so you can get a good night's sleep.

The restaurant and lounge on the first floor are pleasant and make you feel like you live in the neighborhood. Breakfast is across the street in a great diner/deli.

It’s all about comfort at the Mac. I come to Richmond once a month to visit an office. I always stay at the Mac. The rooms are spacious, stylishly decorated for comfort and they are immaculately clean. Some rooms have working fireplaces. No two rooms are alike. Besides all of the expected amenities, the mini fridge is stocked with complimentary waters and juices. What makes the stay at the Mac most enjoyable however, is the restaurant and bar. This is a first class restaurant. No typical hotel fare here. The food is excellent, the service is impeccable. The signature Mac and cheese is a must have. The bar will remind you of the t.v. show Cheers and the drink selection is extensive and well worth exploring.

This is my second time at this location, but the first with my wife, and we have a new favorite place to go. A beautifully restored hotel built in 1911, with nicely appointed comfortable rooms. The Mac Hotel is central to downtown Port Richmond with lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Plan on at least one dinner in the hotel's restaurant, have a leisurely drink in the bar and catch up with the local gossip. The rooms are immaculate, clean, nicely decorated, the bed is comfortable with some of the nicest linens we have seen in any hotel.

We stayed here on New Year's Eve 2009. Irene (the manager) was very helpful with our room reservation. Irene checked us in and kindly showed us to our room. The decor was charming! The pictures are quite accurate, although I think the photo is in reverse (I believe we were in The Raffles room). The tiled bathroom was large and had Rusk toiletries, plus a shoe shine cloth and a make-up remover towelette. There were two bath robes as well, which was a nice surprise. The queen bed was comfortable. I don't recall if the room had a/c, but we left the wooden shutters and window open just a bit and we were fine.

I don't know if breakfast is included, but since it was a holiday, Irene informed us that the restaurant would be closed New Year's Day. She provided a Starbucks gift card (it is across the street) to make up for it. That was a thoughtful gesture for her guests.

The restaurant and bar downstairs were very lively. We didn't eat or drink there as we were attending another event. Parking on the street can be difficult. Luckily, there is a small gated lot across the street that is reserved for hotel guests.

We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Spent a weekend in Pt. Richmond taking a class and picked the Hotel Mac based on reviews and recommendations. Let me say, we were NOT disappointed. Our room, the Bellows Suite, was perfect. Comfortable bed, great fireplace and it was nice that the sleeping area could be closed off from the sitting area (wonderful when one can't sleep in the middle of the night). And the little perk of free beverages in the mini bar was a nice touch. I may take another class just to stay (and eat) at the Hotel Mac! Oh, and if you like plays, they have a nice little hometown theater down the street ... but you need to make reservations early.
