“Outstanding Small Museum”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

Don't miss the museum on a trip through Quincy. Tells the story of Plumas County - the gold, the trees, the water, the people.

“Lovely gem showcase of the local history”
Reviewed 16 August 2010

We were delighted to visit the Plumas County Museum in late July, 2010, and see this neat collection of items of the local history. There are a number of pianos, and what looks like a Marx-o-chime chorded fretless zither, as the local lady who founded the museum had taught music for years; a wonderful collection of Maidu basketry, labeled with the makers' names and photos when available; extensive photo archives for the scholar-historian. We greatly enjoyed chatting with the docent on duty on the day of our visit, who was kind enough to help us procure a copy of the WorldMaker Trail auto-tour pamphlet we had found mentioned at http://www.indianvalley.net/maidu.html - which is what had brought us to Quincy on our Northern California meanderings this year.
This town, and this county museum, are well worth driving out of your way to visit.
