Great camp grounds with decent facilities which are mostly clean. Access the river give you a place to relax and play. Noisy at night.

This is a beautiful park in the Central Valley. There are picnic areas in groves of trees, allowing for shade. There are several access points to the banks of the Stanislaus River. It's a great place to go walking or just hang out.

I hiked the beautiful trails here and encountered no one. The riparian area is gorgeous and a blessed relief from the hot and fairly treeless (except for almond orchards) surrounding areas. But the trail is short-took me less than 45 minutes. The river os very low, but there were families enjoying the picnic areas and even some kids splashing in the river.

Went here to check it out since it is local and to get the kids out of the house on a hot summer day.

First of all it costs I think it was $10 to get in, but there really isn't anything to do there. I don't think there was a park, I can't see fishing in the shallow and narrow river.

Fortunately though, the water was the only thing that made this place worth going to because we were able to walk around in the river and go up and downstream. I taught my kids about the river, river bed, animals that could be present, fish and some areas where they might hide to get away from people, etc...

We had quite a good experience of camping in caswell memorial state park. Its a good camping place where you can get a camping site of your choice. There are almost 60 (i guess) sites in which you can chose your favourite one. Sites are served as first come first basis so be early in the morning there if you want a good camping site. Its a peaceful jungle kind of place. There is river on the side where you can go swim or sit on the beach of river. Adequate restrooms are there, toilet use is free but if you want to use bathroom then you need to pay $1 for 5 minutes of shower. Not so far from the bay area.it takes around 2 hours in normal traffic.
