Once again, the Black Bear Diner came through with a nice dinner for two. One of us ordered the fried chicken dinner while the other went for the pot roast. Comfort food, for sure. One of us began with Tortilla soup (spicy) and the other went for the house salad. Both appetizers were accompanied by a very nice corn muffin that was moist and tasty.

Three pieces of chicken - a thigh and leg plus a breast - accompanied savory mashed potatoes and al dente-steamed veggies (including some brussels sprouts). The gravy was delicious and the chicken was respectable. A bit too much for one meal, so the breast and some mashed made their way to our fridge, and were served the next day.

The pot roast was nice, good gravy, too. The serving included the same steamed veggies and a potato choice (french fries, cooked perfectly with skins on). Servings were generous.

The restaurant was about 2/3rds full at 7pm. Great location near all the other stops we needed to make.

We have eaten hear several times. The food is average at best and tends to be a bit greasy and the service is spotty. We probably will not go back again, mainly because there are so many other choices that have better food.

I love Black Bear Diner for lunch or breakfast. Had the best pancakes ever! And I am a pancake lover. For lunch have any of the burgers they are so good and you;ll be taking a box home too for a great value. And the service is to notch. Nothing like Black Bear

Pros: decent food, large portions, friendly service
Cons: none really

The theme of this restaurant is fun, with the bears and wood cabin feel. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is filling and tasty. Reminds me of the Midwestern restaurant Bob Evans, known for home-style country food.

The portions are huge, so come hungry or be prepared to have a to-go box. The pot roast is delicious. A fun place for a family lunch or dinner, in a convenient location with lots of parking.

My salad was excellent. The cheeseburger salad. My husband had a breakfast bowl and he said it was really good. Service was more than adequate. It is similar to Claim Jumper but not quite the same level. A notch below for ambiance and the blaring music that I had to ask them to turn down.
