“Lovely locale, but . . .”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

I stayed here recently for a work conference and the conference was also in the hotel. The accomodations were quite lovely, as the rooms were very well appointed with a comfortable bed. There is a nice bistro and bar in the hotel lobby that that a complementary happy hour and is open late. The hotel is a short walk from the "Old Sacramento" shopping/dining area. The hotel also provided a free shuttle, which was nice.

My major beef with this hotel is that they do not offer free internet access in the individual rooms. Additionally, the screens for the computers where one can access the internet for free were huge! Anyone within 15 feet could see what I was looking at and I found this to be unnerving. Considering that our room rate was $190+, I find this disappointing to the extent that I would look elsewhere for accomodations for my next stay in Sacramento.

I was on a trip to the Capitol and stayed at the Embassy Suites hotel earlier this week. What a great place to stay, clean large rooms, all are suites as the name implies. This one has a managers reception each evening with complimentary drinks and snacks as well as a great breakfast buffet in the mornings with made to order omelets. The hotel is with in walking distance of the Capitol and Old Sacramento is right across the street. I would stay here anytime I am in Sacramento. The rooms had a fridge and microwave as well as coffee maker and hair dryer. The front room was spacious with a TV, desk and couch.

Whenever we visit our daughter in college we always stay here. It's central location is conducive to sight seeing, fine dining, and all of the other activities Sacramento has to offer. The staff is attentive and professional and the rooms are always up to the Embassy Suitres standard.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river and stadium.

Stayed at this hotel for the Shamrock half marathon. The hotel was one block from the start and finish lines, so incredible location.
As with the Embassy hotels I've visited, this one had a nice (included ) happy hour, and a great included breakfast, which even had eggs made to order. The suite was nice sized and clean. The property had an indoor pool. It was a bit small, but nice enough.
Thumbs up.

I decided to continue my recent trend of staying Embassy Suites because of good stays recently in Washington D.C. and Austin, TX. This was a no-brainer given the fact that I was assured a room with a view of the river. The room did not disappoint. Spacious, clean, high quality fixtures and granite! WOW!!!

As usual - breakfast was excellent. Beautiful lobby with an 8 story high ceiling. Wonderful natural light with comfortable seating everywhere.

Shuttle to / from the airport was a savings of $40! Nice surprise. The shuttle also took me to my meetings near the capital.

Blocks from the capital.

Excellent place for either business or family.

The information I saw about this hotel said self park and valet park. The problem is that the self park is not convenient, so basically you are stuck with valet parking. (The self park appears to be part of the Old Sacramento complex, so who knows how safe that is.) When I complained about the misleading statement about self park, the lovely woman who checked me in said she would take care of the parking for me. Nice touch, I thought. Unfortunately, they charged me for it anyway. A considerate action was completely undone. Now that I am filling out my expense report I see another sneaky thing...the folio that they place the keys in says something about the USA Today costing me 75 cents. Who ever reads that little folio??? Yes, it is just 75 cents, but I find it to be less than honorable behavior. Who knows what other sneaky tactics besides the parking and USA today! Other than that, it is an average place. There is complimentary breakfast, which is decent. The location is very good, right across from Old Sacramento. Unfortunately, it is also located right next to a freeway so they should use double pane glass, which they don't. Ask for a room on the bridge side, if freeway noise bothers you. Although there are sometimes sirens from the drawbridge and an occasional historic train on that side of the building that cause a bit of noise. The room is spacious, with a separate living room. The bed was adequate. Noise from other rooms is present but not overwhelming. It is clean and well kept. Overall, okay. Except for the parking situation.
