Nice relaxing park that provides a relaxing ambience. Very well maintained & serene. Has many mature & beautiful trees. Also has a baseball field, a fence enclosed playground & area to play Bacca. This park feels safe yet not encased by fences. Located in a nice, quiet & well maintained neighborhood. It is a nice place to exercise both for people and dogs. This former gravel pit, repurposed more than 60 years ago provides slight changes of elevation which is refreshing in Sacramento. This park is good for jogging or strolling. A nice park, oasis, in our little city. If there is a Bacca tournament or a baseball game, you can watch in comfort since the trees provide relief from from our California sunshine during hot weather months. Very nice six blocks of area, well secluded in a quiet area. Nice to spend a few minutes or few hours of time dependent only on your whims or scheduling conflicts.

A neighborhood park located in East Sacramento, next to a school is a great place to just take a break and a short distance from several fast food establishments on Folsom Blvd where you can pickup lunch and have a pleasant spontaneous picnic.
The best thing East Portal is the Bocce Ball courts and the annual "Pops in the Park" events. It also has a softball field.

We visited East Portal Park in Sacramento. its a very nice park with trees, picnic areas, and sports fields. There is a very good bocce ball club area. In 2004, the team at this park won the national championship.

East Portal Park is a four-square-block park located in central Sacramento. It's been a favorite of the local community for more than 60 years since its early years as, yup, a gravel pit (that's why it's so low in the middle).

If you're a visitor to Sacramento in June, there is a Pops In The Park family concert series that is held on Saturday evenings during June at four local community parks, including East Portal. The free concerts offer a wonderful local experience if you're in the area during that time.

East Portal Park also the home of the East Sacramento Bocce Club, one of the nation's most highly respected bocce organizations, founded by none other than Al Capone (historical accuracy of this statement is highly suspect). But seriously, the club has been a symbol of our local Little Italy since the 70's and hopefully for generations to come.

So if you're nearby during the Pops In The Park concert series, catch one of these free family-friendly events. You'll have an evening of fun, hanging out with friends, or even making a new friend.

Get over here!

Thank John H
