We really like Franciscan wines and have been to this winery numerous times. It has a bit more of a corporate feel, but we have experieneced both incredible service and not so good service. There is definitely more of a push for you to buy wine, but they are also quite generous with their pours and offer complimentary tastings to their wine club and many of their guests (we showed up with 8 people) and they quickly provided us a separate tasting room and person to explain wines at no charge as we were part of the wine club and had a number of visitors with us.

Overal, I recommend this place, but can be hit or miss.

I am putting this review up mainly because of the poor one that I just read. Obviously this person doesn't know that the wineries primarily charge for tastings because they want to discourage people from cruising the valley in search of a cheap way to get drunk.

That aside, we love Franciscan! We are locals but only moved here in April of 2011. Prior to that we had had Franciscan's Magnificat with good friends at New Years. So when we found the winery we were very excited. Yes if you go when its busy in Napa you may have to wait a while to get served and yes the servers do get overwhelmed -- so go in with realistic expectations.

We belong to their wine club which entitles us to free tastings and invitation to special events. Everyone who works there has been super friendly too! I strongly recommend that you visit this winery when in Napa!

What a sight to see! We were taken on an in depth tour of their facility. This winery is a working winery, not all smoke and mirrors like some others in Napa. The wine? They were truly exceptional! Our host Cynthia, was knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our honeymoon, we were given a signed bottle (by the winemaker) before were left, and took some amazing pictures! Thanks for the experience!

Although this is a huge winery, the service was very friendly and approachable. Interesting tour and beautiful grounds. Nice gift shop.

We stayed in Napa for 7 days this summer. This is our 3rd time here in the Valley, but the first time we came to Franciscan.
We didn't know this winery before, but we've seen the wine in many stores.

We are mostly into full-bodied, heavy red Cab (but also like some Zin, Syrah or Pinot sometimes), so we thought this place might fit our tongue.

Since we planned on having more tastings later today we shared a flight of five wines for 20$, a fair price. We even got some complementary white wine in the beginning.
The setting is very nice, inside and outside. You can stroll around the room, hang out at the bar or seat yourself in one of the huge leather chairs (that's what we did, nice and comfy).
The service here was friendly, helpful and not pushy about selling.

They have some fine wine here. The one we liked the most in the end was the regular Cab. Sauvignon, which came at a very good price. We had several bottles of it later on our trip (on the way to Vegas and New York City). The red Cab. had very good flavors, a heavy, full body and was very balanced. Slightly lighter maybe than some other Napa Cab., but still a very good wine. Definetly something we wanna drink again.

We sure would come back to try some more.

Wanna know more about my trips?
