Comfortable room, friendly staff and cheap parking costs

Booked to stay at the Hilton San Gabriel in November whilst passing through from Australia to the east coast. Due to an early flight arrival, no wait in getting a hire car, and very little traffic on a Sunday morning, I arrived at the hotel earlier than had been planned. Sadly there were no rooms available due to the hotel being booked up the previous evening, even for a paid early check in, so I did have to wait a few hours before checking in. However I made the most of it and walked around the area, had a coffee and some lunch, and returned to the lobby where the friendly team advised to come up at an allocated time to see if a room had become available. A room was allocated at the time in question, and was located on the western side of the building looking over San Gabriel/Alhambra. I was given a Honors bag at check in with some water and snack mix, and there were bottles of water in the room as well. The room and hotel are well kept, the room was clean and was comfortable for my three night stay. Albeit some of the decor and fittings are a little older, especially the ones in the bathroom, everything worked fine. Room service was used on the first night, the meal was good and the price was about right for room service. A service charge was clearly stated on the bill, was in plain sight and wasn't hidden, which is good. The reason for choosing this hotel was to keep my hotels all with Hilton for the trip (for Honors benefits), it is well rated with a cheap parking option, and is located in a more suburban area away from the hustle and bustle of busier tourist areas.

Hotel Facilities: There are dining options onsite, but I only used the room service option on the night I arrived. A shop where you can buy drinks and snacks is available onsite. Parking was affordable at $10 per night. Parking can be found at ground level, whilst there is more parking downstairs underneath the hotel where I found plenty of spaces. It should be noted that there are electric vehicle charging stations in the underground carpark as well, but I am unsure of the charges for this service as I did not need to use them. There is a pool available to guests, but I did not use it on this stay.

Airport Transport: No airport transfers at this hotel as it is found in suburban LA. However driving to and from takes about 40-60mins from LAX depending on traffic.

Public Transport: Easy access to metro buses can be found out the front and opposite the hotel. Some services link up to the El Monte Busway at the I-10 a few blocks from the hotel.

Around the area: There are many restaurants surrounding the hotel. Fast food can be found within walking distance from the hotel, as well as chain coffee stores, pharmacies and a supermarket. Gas/Petrol stations can be found close by as well, and being close to an interstate there is good access when driving for sightseeing in LA and beyond.

In summary, a nice hotel with a great team who were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel has decent facilities. The location is good with restaurants close by and fast food options a short walk/drive away. Public transport is available, but driving is recommended especially if you are touring around beyond the major tourist sites.

Nice, clean hotel. Beds and pillows were comfortable but my room was very noisy from mechanical equipment on the roof so I did not get much rest here. Parking was easy but does cost $10/night. Breakfast was very overpriced and honestly not that good so I only bought that one morning. Overall good stay but probably should have requested another room.

Room tip: No free parking, only Chinese restaurants within walking distance

In early 2023 I made a reservation at another Hilton hotel but, a few months ago I was informed the opening of that hotel has been delayed and I was offered this hotel as an alternative by Tom Kubo and Darwin Wang. I was a little leery at first but they both answered every question I had and did everything possible to assure me all would be fine and tended to me, for all my needs, even though this was during a time when, due to a premiere local event, most hotels were already all booked. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect as I had never stayed at the Hilton San Gabriel but, I can honestly say, I definitely plan on returning! The entire staff were SO friendly and helpful; from the parking attendants to the front desk staff, to the restaurant and bar staff. Always with a friendly smile and asking if there was anything they could do for me/us. The room was superb and offered all amenities ever needed. Tom/Darwin, THANK YOU AGAIN for offering me this absolute wonderful alternative!!

I enjoy coming to this Hilton property. It is extremely clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Parking is relatively easy and for LA inexpensive. The night time security guard is quite a sweet man always saying hi and I appreciate seeing him. The front desk is a very nice group of people whom I enjoying coming in and say hello. Very accommodating. The rooms are pleasant, clean, and good amenities. I love the choice of shower or tub in most rooms. Views are decent- I do prefer the views of the vistas and mountains. The breakfasts are great. I choose between the instant noifles( Ramen) or omelet. The staff always heat me by name. And always have a kind word. Often I leave my luggage to be held while I go to work, though I have the option of late checkouts. I come here weekly- I have many choices but this is my go to hotel when I work in Pasadena

We had just come from a big-name resort in Palm Springs, and I felt like I was coming home to a good quality Hilton hotel. My experience at this hotel was better than the big-name resort. Very friendly front desk staff. Nice amenities in the room (eg, shower cap, good tea and coffee selection) and the room was very quiet and clean. Comfortable bed and good towels. We felt well taken care of. There is plenty of paid parking underground and some restaurants within walking distance. Would stay here again.

I recently completed a 5 night stay at this hotel. I am a repeat customer, having stayed here many times over the years and previously wrote a review back in 2013.
As usual I had a good stay and really appreciate the excellent customer service exhibited by every staff member I encountered.
The bartender is very amicable and we had the same, very friendly waitress every morning in the restaurant when we went down for breakfast.
Our queen bed junior suite was well equipped, especially since my partner was working remotely during our stay.
It was also nice to have the dedicated Hilton Diamond parking places provided close the hotel entrance.
My only request would be for the hotel to resume the excellent breakfast buffet that was offered prior to the pandemic. It was always the best feature of this hotel.
For other dining, this location can't be beat if you enjoy Asian cuisine!
I look forward to my next stay in the near future.
