We recently stayed at this hotel, Feb 2012 during our visit to the Bay area. We traveled from San Fran to San Jose as we were taking in an event at the HP Pavilion Center in San Jose. While this hotel is not bad, for us it was the lowest rated hotel of our 8 nights away, 2 of which were at this hotel.
We did not get off to a good start at the hotel. After checking in & settling in, we realized that there was no hot water in our room. Neither the sink nor the shower had any hot water, even after letting them run for minutes on end & trying them in both directions, in case the settings on the knobs were incorrect. So, we had to pack up everything & move to another room. Unfortunately, the next room we were assigned to, they gave us the room closest to the busy road that the hotel sits along. The hotel was not full, but maybe they knew that the rooms in the other part of the hotel's property would not have hot water, Some of the hotel's rooms are in other buildings that sit back from the road, likely quieter. I was bothered by the noisy road, but ran the heat/a.c. to drown out the noise.
There are both train & bus stations down the road, so public transportation is easily accessible. The train station does account for some of the noise you can hear at the property. It is not obnoxiously loud, but it can be heard. The walls must not be too thick either as I could hear the person in the next room snoring at night through the wall. (2nd night - so, we were not going to ask to move to another room again!)
The hotel is not modern but the rooms are clean. The hotel needs to seriously consider de-cluttering the rooms. The room we stayed in had at least 4 chairs in it, maybe 5. Not necessary for a room that has 1 bed! The 1st room we were assigned to also had too much furniture & there was very little floor space in that room - even getting our suitcases laid out in that room would have been tough; we live out of them when travelling & staying for only a night or 2.
The breakfast was o.k. It was a typical hotel breakfast, with a fairly good variety of food, waffles were the only hot food. Fresh fruit, cereals, bagels, bread for toast, muffins & donuts, granola bars, juices & coffee & more.
We try to spend minimal time in hotel rooms, so this hotel met our needs. The bed was comfortable & the sheets were clean & crisp, and the room was clean. TV's were older versions, but adequate. For the price we paid we were satisfied. The previous 3 nights we had stayed in a very nice, new, modern hotel outside of San Fran with many extra perks and amenities. It is harder to step down to a less modern hotel after that experience.
