we stayed 2 nights during a holiday weekend and the place was packed (as seen from unavailable parking spots). Rooms are basic but clean. Only complaints - heating/ cooling was off the wall mounted (close to ceiling) a/c unit and the coverage of the cooling/ heating was limited. If you slept on the side of the bed closer to the unit, it seemed ok, but a few feet away (on the other side of the bed) it wasnt too pleasant.
Breakfast offerings are decent and staff seem dedicated and friendly. good place to crash for the night while coming thru town, etc
in a safe part of the city, it seemed.

Stayed over Thanksgiving weekend. Would have been 5 stars except the phone in room was broken, and could not call the front desk. Was told they were working on it the entire time we were there, but it was never fixed. Clincher for us was that they accept pets in their rooms, and our miniature poodle was right at home. Decent free breakfast each morning. Great location right off freeway. Would definitely stay there again. Convenient to downtown.

We stayed here during a special event and appreciated the customer service we received from Jason during check-in and check-out. He's a consummate professional who attended to every request we made (and we made several). This is an older motel, but the rooms were large and the bathroom was well stocked beyond what you expect for a place in this price range.

You can walk to downtown, but to get to the city center, it may be better to drive the mile down Monterey Street. Lots of great places to eat and shop once downtown, including tourist attractions such as The Mission and Bubblegum Alley (which is disgusting but fascinating at the same time).

Room tip: Stay upstairs if sleep is important, downstairs if you want easy access to breakfast/ice/sodas.

We stayed here with our 2 dogs, and couldn't have been happier. We booked the suite and it was so comfortable, so spacious, clean and welcoming. It would have been nice to have a couple of plates and cups but wasn't a big deal. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was good, (scrambled eggs are never very palatable in a buffet) The location was perfect.
All in all the value for money was very good. We will absolutely stay here again.

Room tip: Spring for the suites, upstairs and extremely quiet even right next to the road and swimming pool

Right off the freeway, in northern part of San Luis Obispo (SLO) Helpful Staff, Rooms are good size. Nice walk to downtown SLO downtown for the Farmer's Market. Breakfast typical of free breakfasts, sausage, eggs, various pastry items. Pool and jacuzzi, covered parking. Fairly quiet, even though close to freeway access.

Room tip: Actually don't have to walk all the way to downtown to eat. Several nice restaurants, moderately priced on Monterey Street.
