All the good things in these reviews were there when our family of four went. None of the bad things - "mediocre", and the like - were visible to any of us. Three of us have eaten Chinese food all over the country for a couple decades, and two of us have traveled extensively in China., Hong Kong, Taiwan, and all major US cities with good Chinese restaurants.

Yes, it is small, and yes, the parking like all of the area is not very good. But a very strong positive is that we were the only non-Asians in the place which was packed to the gills.

We had 7 dishes, four drinks, service by a real Chinese who, while his English was not perfect, was smily, helpful, and knew what it was all about.

The food was, simply put, delicious. The prawns in lobster sauce were the like best of the NYC Chinese and Hong Kong restaurants - exqusite. The house special fried rice was so much better than the Americanized brown stuff that we see in so many places. All the dishes had the tasty, fragrant spices we are accustomed to in good Chinese establishments.

The food came out VERY quickly, all piping hot and we dived into it all. The whole tab for seven dishes and four drinks was $66 - a real bargain.

Can't wait to go back here again when the craving hits. But don't think I will try on a weekend night. For sure I can see this would be a long wait. But on a nice quiet Thursday evening, it was superb.

The only problem for this restaurant is the number of people trying to get in, especially during the dinner time. There are only four large round tables for families/larger groups, and less than a dozen small tables. Reservations are absolutely necessary for party of 6 or more during dinner time. And even with reservations, it doesn't guarantee you can sit down at the time you wanted. The food is above average, the price is still reasonable despite price increases in the past couple years. The waiters/waitresses are trying their best to serve but it is often difficult when the place is so crowded all the time. It is best to keep that in mind and don't expect the same level of services from a high end restaurant. A little patience and kind reminders would work wonders.

This little gem of a Northern Chinese Restaurant serves excellent authentic food. The actual dining room is not large which means if you do not get there early for Lunch, you may be waiting for a while. Note that parking is limited. If you can't find a space in the small parking area in the back or on 25th Ave, you might want to park on Palm Avenue and walk. Arriving at the front door (or back door if you parked in their small lot) a waiter will seat you or you maybe waiting depending on when you arrive. The wait staff is attentive and will come and take your order relatively soon.

Have eaten here several times for lunch and whatever we order has been excellent. The Shao Lon Bao is excellent (dumplings with soup inside) one of the best dishes in the restaurant. The noodles dishes are very good. The lunch rice plates includes hot and sour soup with a spring roll. The onion pancakes are quite tasty. Ingredients are fresh and the service is relatively fast for a Chinese place. We have been able to get in and out in less than an hour. My friends who were born and lived in Shanghai say that the food is authentic enough to remind them of food served at
Restaurants in Shanghai.

The only minor complaint is the owners of this restaurant will (with little or no notice) go on vacation for a month before returning. A disappointment when one is hungry and wants a Shao Lon Bao fix...
