We've traveled with our German Shepard mix and have yet to see a space with more charm to both dogs and their peeps. It has a complex of baseball fields with fencing beyond the outfield that creates an outer ring of lawns, trees, bushes, sandy hillsides, slopes with trees, and stations with free poop bags and even water fountains for dogs. You never have to worry that your chucker will lob the ball in someone's yard outside the park. Up the staircase to the soccer fields and more play areas. Up the stairs from that gives access to trails that meander all over the hills perched above Santa Barbara's beaches, and you are still in the park. In the other direction a road leads up to event venues that feature Italian Stone Pines, manicured oaks shading a vast deck, an amphitheater, tasteful stonework, more views, lush lawns, art and lots of benches. A walk that honors Vietnam War vets travels the face of a hillside that gives views of the ball fields and the ocean while walking past bougainvillea and lizards sunning themselves. Park management charges an annual fee for dogs to use the park and requires proof of rabies vaccine. As a result, people are responsible and dog fights are rare.
