Description: We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You’ll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at this true-blue waterfront institution. Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. No matter what, libations are always in order at this locals’ favorite gathering place. Everyone is welcome at Brophy's, hope to see you soon.

We have dined at Brophy's off and on for 20+ years. It would be nice if they went back to focusing on quality rather than quantity. We (3 of us) ordered fish & chips, New York steak and cup of chowder/house salad. Usually ordering a house salad is kind of like ordering a grilled cheese sandwich or hamburger - safe - how can you go wrong? Or so I thought. Both the house salads were 1/3 bag of lettuce each with scant trace of dressing, one did have 2 plum tomatoes and one slice of cucumber finely chopped, the other lettuce alone and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. Both were overflowing the plate. The salad was not the safe bet....sadly. The steak was tasty but ordered without the coleslaw so there would be room to cut the steak - naturally it arrived fully plated -overflowing with fries and slaw. Fish/chips were ordinary. Good thing they compost considering the amount of food thrown away from our table and the adjacent table. Service was rushed and anxious - we sat at our table for a while before being noticed , bread was offered halfway through meal . Brophy's is always busy, but things seemed more chaotic than usual. The bar view and vibe is great and I would return for a cocktail/glass of wine and chowder or seafood appetizer at the bar but Santa Barbara has better options for dinner with the family or friends....

arrived early (4:30) & was almost completely full. Lots of locals. The shrimp & crab salad was large (wife & I shared)..very taste. We each had the sea bass, 1 grilled & 1 blackened. Excellent. Clam chowder is full of clams & very thick. View of harbor boats. Good bloody Mary's.

Top of my list in Santa Barbara. A sure sign that a place is great when it is crowded with locals. You may have to wait for a table, but it's worth it.

You feel the flavour of the ocean as you sit on the outside patio and enjoy the sight sounds and taste of your dinner. Food was very good. Wine was reasonable priced. View was beautiful. We ate dinner and saw the lights of the boats and the city. You have to try this place. It's worth it !!

Hubby & I enjoyed a wonderful meal here at sunset. We had a small outside table which allowed us to watch all the stuff going on at the harbor...sea urchin loading...returning fishermen...harbor patrol....strolling tourists....all while enjoying a glass of wine with cioppino and huge bowl of the best clam chowder I've had...not to be missed!
