We enjoyed a wonderful couple of hours on the Pier after sunset. The place is gorgeous with all the lights and the crowds were likely smaller. Lots to see and do. People watching is free if you want to save some $$s

This is a nice pier, but very crowded at times. It is close to food and great shops. Great place to visit!!! This is like my 2nd or 3rd time visiting. Always enjoy it

Parking around the Santa Monica Pier costs a lot and most parking lots close at 7pm. We wanted to watch the sunset and the Ferris Wheel light up, so we ended up paying USD$25 for "all-day" parking. It was crowded all along the boardwalk. Several unlicensed vendors, "churro ladies" were calling out from the bridge to the pier, selling churros at USD$1 compared to the much higher prices at licensed carts on the pier. Many street performers, artists & food vendors line the boardwalk, making it a very interesting walk. A diversity of people were fishing by the rails. They have the convenience of benches to rest on, fish-cleaning facilities, and multi-level, wheelchair accessible balconies to fish from. There's even a small bait & tackle shop at the end of the pier run by very experienced anglers. I love that a visit to the Santa Monica Pier can cost as little or as much as the visitor wants to spend: from just USD$6 for parking before 7pm to spending on carousel rides, spending at the arcade, spending on trapeze school, spending on amusement park rides and games in Pacific Park, and of course, on food!

It was a great trip! I’m glad we rented bikes it was worth it :) the weather was good. Traffic is a joke better to leave after 8 or 9 am or 7-9 pm avoid during the day it’s bumper to number
