This is our favorite restaurant in Simi Valley. We have been going there consistently for nearly 10 years. The food is always good, the service is great and the prices don't strain the budget.
We go primarily to Blue Fin for the sushi. Over the years, we have gotten to know the chefs and we get sushi the way we like it. Blue Fin's sushi rolls tend to emphasize fish, rather than artificial crab salad, and are quite tasty. There are a number of rolls that are off the menu, but if you ask Tony or Carlos (the sushi chefs), they can create a roll to your liking. Their sashimi is always great - the quality of the fish shines through. We tend to favor a few rolls - the Jans roll (no rice, just fish and vegetables), the Spicy Tuna hand roll (they put in Jalapenos to spice it up further) and their Simi roll. Many of our friends like the Crunchy Roll and other rolls as well.
Blue Fin also serves great non-sushi dishes. Hoss, the owner, has years of experience in restaurants with different cuisines. As a result, the broader menu has a number of options for people who don't like sushi. The pastas and meats have been well received. The desserts never disappoint - particularly the Monster Banana - it's a banana split, with a brownie base.
In summary - it's a good value, the food is fresh and tasty and service is consistently good.
