Big and clean room, everything you need, but no heating. . Could not stay in the room without outer garment on. Breakfast ok served by a friendly staff. Very calm district, but the bed was possible too soft for me.

Always a good welcoming on arrival. Rooms are very clean with various room types available including balconies, some rooms are in need of redecoration. Restaurant menu has a good choice with seasonal specials available. All staff are very proficient and most speak English. Location is remote with the nearest village shops etc. 2km distance away. WiFi here is not great if your needing high-speed connection. Car parking available to the side and rear of the building with access from the rear over a small bridge into the gardens.

Room Tip: All rooms are good size with either single(s) or double bed. Rooms are over three floors with the la...

I have stayed at the Rössel (Pony, in German?) several times. Love the place, the people, the setting, the food, all of it.
Scherzheim is on the B35 (Landstrasse), running parallel to the A5 about 15 km. east. You get a real key when you check in, with a large metal fob so you don't lose it. Note that there is extra parking by crossing the lovely Acher river on a little footbridge to Muckenschopferstr. They do extensive gardening, and it's worth parking "out back" just to enjoy the charming gardens-- they serve outside in warm weather, very popular with the locals.
Speaking of service, it's family-run, and they care very much about everything they do, from cleaning to greeting you as if you were the prodigal son.
The breakfast (EU5, included in the room price unless you ask otherwise) is plentiful, with an ever-changing variety of fruits and Black Forest meats. Dinner is always a treat, you will be unlikely to find better food anywhere around, all prepared by the family. They have a small kitchen, and as I've said, it's very popular, so be prepared to enjoy the ambiance while waiting for your order, believe me it's worth it.
If you're lucky enough to be there in the spring. they take full advantage of the famous local asparagus-- I can taste the large tender white stalks over smoked ham on Pumpernickel toast with Hollandaise even now, a year later. I have tried many menu items, and have never been disappointed. This place is the real deal.

If you're after 5* luxury and modern facilities, look elsewhere. If you want to experience genuine, old-fashioned hospitality in a venue that oozes German charm, you're in the right place. The hotel is family run and has a wonderful relaxed feel that can only come from contented staff. The rooms are clean and spacious and there is free internet (wired) in every room. Toiletries are fairly basic but sufficient and the beds are comfortable. The hotel restaurant produces excellent food which is above what might be expected from such a humble establishment and this includes breakfast which, whilst there are no cooked items, has a great range of cereal, bread, fruit, conserves and meat. There isn't much to see in the immediately surrounding area, but the hotel is close to the Baden airpark and within a 20 minute drive of Baden-Baden or Strasbourg. In its price-range, there is nothing that can be faulted but an awful lot to endear it.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back overlook a pretty stream and garden.

We were staying in hotel blume in Scherzheim and before dinner, decided to stroll through the neighborhood. We stumbled upon this establishment by accident. The service was excellent.. i think family run, hostess, server were genuinely concerned with our experience in thier restaurant and also in Germany. The food was excellent..the atmosphere was quiet..there was one couple that seemed to be a local couple that stopped in and a small group that looked like they met for dinner after work. Can say enough about the hostess and our server..It felt like mom was taking care of me!

My wife and I had the great pleasure to stay at this excellent Hotel/Gasthaus for the last two weeks, and have nothing but the greatest of complements for the impeccable service, gourmet meals and incredible hospitality! This small family run Gasthaus offers an experience that is reminiscent of exactly what one would expect of fine, traditional German culture.

We found the rooms very reasonably priced, spacious, clean and tastefully appointed. The price includes parking, free WIFI and an all you can eat breakfast that offers a wide variety of cold meats, cheese, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit - while not a "bacon and egg" meal, it had something for everyone and you don't leave hungry by any means. The hotel is in a picturesque, quiet village with great access to the Baden Baden Airpark, the city of Baden Baden (with the wonderful Caracalla thermal baths), Strasbourg and Alsace. The area has great wineries, is at the foot of the Black Forest, and immediately beside the Rhine river - we found so much to do and loved using this Gasthaus as the main base to travel from.

However, it was the amazing supper menu that had us captivated - whether it was fish, schnitzel, Cordon Bleu ( our personal favourite), spargel or simply a flavourful salad, the flavour and presentation was out of this world! We will certainly return back here someday soon just to sample the food.

We highly recommend a stay at this incredible gem in the heart of the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony in the rear of the Gasthaus, overlooking the Garden and the river. Our favourite w...

I spent one night in this hotel. The staff is very kind. We had a 3 persons room, which was very big. Our room was clean, bathroom was clean. The hotel is not really trendy but has it's charm.
There is not much to do in Scherzheim in the evening, so we stayed at the hotel and made use of the free "Kegelbahn", an old fashioned bowling.
Breakfast was a surprise, in fact big value for money there. A lot of choice, also fresh fruits.
