We looked at a number of places to stay in Sonoma and decided on El Pueblo because it looked like the best value for money. We were definitely not wrong there. The room was spacious as was the bathroom and very clean and comfortable. All the rooms faced the centre courtyard, but we were never disturbed by other guests. The staff were helpful in suggesting places to eat in the evenings. We only ate breakfast one morning as we ended up having picnics out the following two days. Breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of selection and tea and coffee available. Yes it was a good walk to the central plaza, but in nice weather it was a lovely end to an evening out. We also tried out the pool and hot tub one night, which was a lovely way to relax after a long walk. If you don't want to spend money on a room nearer the plaza I can highly reccommend here.

Stayed here before and tried it again. Some of the rooms have a patio with table and chairs. Most of the rooms face the central garden which is really beautifully landscaped with a large fountain. The bed was comfortably firm for my husband, but a little too much for me. Also, the mattress in our room was very high which might be a problem for a very short or elderly person.
The breakfast is OK. The coffee was excellent which one doesn't often find in motels.
The plaza is not too far away.

There are plenty of places to stay in the Sonoma / wine country area. Most are very nice, and very expensive. El Pueblo Inn manages to be charming, warm, very comfortable, and very affordable. It is very close - less than a mile - to the center square.

It is a more traditional type of hotel, with rooms next to one another rather than cottages. The key here is there's been a ton of attention to detail. The central courtyard is landscaped in such a way that you can't easily see across to the other rooms, making it feel very private.

They must have invested in soundproofing as we didn't hear anything outside our room once we closed all the doors and windows.

The room we got (free upgrade yay!) was a Sonoma King with a small patio. I don't think you'd necessarily need the patio, but the upgrade is reasonably priced. Decorated in an understated Mission theme, there is excellent attention to detail in the tile work, and the shower curtain is thoughtfully placed on a curved rod so it does not stick to you. The king size bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows and soft sheets. The room - and the property - was scrupulously clean. They have a good sized pool and a deliciously hot hot tub.

Breakfast is a step above the usual fare, though if you want something really hearty you'll have to find another place. Cereal, oatmeal, eggs, bagels, all high quality.

Finally, the service was impeccable. The staff all were pleasant and professional. Everyone said hello and we really felt welcome here.

You can easily find significantly more expensive places to stay, but having stayed in properties like that, I don't think I got added value for the money spent. Ordering that extra entree and wine at dinner did that for me, and staying here made that a much more comfortable choice.

We picked this Inn because of the Trip Advisor reviews we read. El Pueblo Inn has large rooms, super clean, very comfortable beds, a great continental breakfast and a relaxed vibe. The garden courtyard is very peaceful and the pool area is quite nice. It's a wonderful value and a fun place to stay in Sonoma.

Second time staying here for several days. James is the staff we like dealing with, but everyone else is great, too. The large room with king bed has lots of space, natural light, large balcony, well-kept garden views, bathroom has lots of outlets (personal pet peeve when not enough), bathtub is deep, room has two comfy recliners, and we go to sleep with the sound of the fountain outside the balcony door. Breakfast is nice including quiche and fresh fruit. Pool area is also very nice.
