Astrid and Danny are the most warm, welcoming hosts. The breakfasts are some of the best I've ever had. The comfortable bed, the awesome shower, the gardens, on and on...just go stay with them!

Well first off we need to suggest to anyone visiting the States and considering a road trip to Yosemite from San Francisco to visit Sonora. There may be nothing exciting about the town, but it has to be the best placed we stayed because everyone we met was so pleasant, helpful and generous, and they were genuinely surprised to see two honeymooning Brits wondering around.

We stayed in the Tempranillo room and arrived during a huge but welcome storm. Had we been fifteen minutes later we'd have had the house to ourselves complete with iced tea (sorry but it's disgusting) and cookies. Thankfully Astrid was at home and she gladly made a pot of proper English tea made with refreshing Numi teabags. Astrid was more than helpful and explained she was leaving us in the capable hands of Dan's daughter in the morning.

The house, like the one we stayed at in Gilroy, was part of the town's history so if you stay in the Tempranillo room, leave your spirit level at home, fill the hot tub to the spa fill level and notice how much higher the water is on the outside edge of the building. We enjoyed the tub, and went out to the Diamond back grill and wine bar. We had a great night out because the food was very good, but the wine was even better. I have to mention the folk in the bar including Judge Segerstrom, for intoducing me to the local 'Zins' which are far better than Napa's offerings.

The Zins, the bed and the airy room meant we had a solid night's sleep and we were up early enjoying the fresh hot water and tea left outside our room. Breakfast was a treat, albeit later than we thought at 9am, and the location and garden were the perfect setting to start a lovely day, which included some showboating from a humming bird that was interested in me taking photos at the front of the house.

We really can't fault the house, the welcome, breakfast or anything about Sonora, and we had a cracking morning at the Columbia State park.

Room Tip: Any from what I saw.

The inn is beautiful inside and outside. Astrid and Danny made us feel at home. The room was spacious and comfortable. The gardens outside have private tables and seating areas near relaxing fountains. Each morning the breakfast was fresh and delicious!!

We found this B & B using tripadvisor and are glad we did. we were visiting from San Francisco and wanted a "base" to visit Yosemite and surrounding areas. We selected the biggest room, the Merlot Suite that comes with a small terrace and a little balcony. This is the only room NOT inside the house BUT attached to it. We arrived about 10pm and the room looked beautiful. Big bed nice furniture. A big white bathtub in a corner and a big bathroom with a great shower. This room is "disable friendly" and can accomodate a wheelchair. Danny met us at the parking lot and helped with the luggage. In the morning about 8am they put a tray with coffee outside in the small terrace for us to serve ourselves. Then breakfast at 9am at the formal dining room. Breakfast is prepared by Astrid, is a semi gourmet affair, healthy, starting with fruits, juice, and eggs in different forms and great conversation. The other rooms inside this beautiful house are very, very nice and cozy. We loved our stay and would very much like to go back.

Room Tip: The Cabernet Suite has a fantastic bathtub but NO shower. See the Their soaps are fantastic (but too thin). Hummingbirds come to fed in the mornings. Visit the towns of Sonora, Murphy, Jamestown. But remember to eat dinner early, restaurants closed about 8:30pm! A must visit go to the Ironstone Winery; is spectacular! There is a restaurant/library/former bank in Sonora that in the basement has a big safe and is quite interesting. In Jamestown there is a restaurant hotel that is very interesting and looks like the Saloons in the cowboy movies. It is lovely and very elegant. Enjoy ...

Everything one would expect from a top notch B&B, and much more. Extremely appealing, exquisitely restored rooms and comfortable surroundings entrenched in charming historic tranquility, perfectly enhanced by the beautiful meandering gardens. Yes…we loved it! This is THE place to stay in Sonora. We will be back.

Room Tip: We loved the Cabernet Sauvignon Suite with the additional sitting room and blue and white bathroom!
