We had a very nice suite in Sunnyside with a wonderful view over the lake. Check-in was friendly, staff were great. The atmosphere was very relaxed.

We ate in the hotel that evening. Again, the staff and attentive service was first rate and the food was very good.

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places I have stayed. Would stay in this hotel again.

The Sunnyside Lodge is a great place to stay in Tahoe City. It is right on the lake, has a full bar and restaurant and is quite clean and comfortable. You'll appreciate that the Honor Bar in the room has a choice of reasonably priced bottles of wine!!

Sunnyside is an essential part of the magic of Tahoe's West Shore. I've visited the property quite often through my whole life, and have fond memories from years of experiences there, but had never stayed overnight before. What a pleasure to wake up in the morning to that amazing view! Better yet, what joy to sit and watch the sun go down, and the colors deepen on the mountains, and not have to drive home!

Any property on the lake shore should be focused on the exquisite beauty of the water and mountains, and Sunnyside does an excellent job, bringing the beauty inside. Every room in the building is designed to optimize the experience of being on the water. It would be easy to spend entire days and nights experiencing Tahoe in all its glory, every hour, without ever leaving the property.

Sunnyside is comfortable. I slept deeply on a delicious mattress, enjoying the lush linens, and total silence. In the morning, the breakfast nook offered not only a wonderful assortment of yummy treats and great coffee, but yet another cozy spot to sit and get lost in the view. Free wi-fi is available through the whole building, and it is a real treat to sit by the fire on a chilly night with some hot delicious food, a glass of elegant wine, writing emails and ruminating on life. My room itself was a good size, tastefully decorated, pleasant to spend time in, and offered in-room bottles of some of California's best wines at extraordinarily good prices. Hard to resist! The ensuite facilities are clean, well-maintained, and pleasant. Knowing how busy Sunnyside is, I wondered just how loud it is in the rooms, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was.

The staff is available to help with anything at any time, and were pleasant to deal with, making every effort to accommodate all my requests. Their friendliness and helpfulness contributed a personal, welcoming element to my stay.

In the summer, Sunnyside is THE place to be on the north and west shores. A bustling marina, a waterski school and boat parking, kayak and jetski rentals, and a public beach are literally right there. Sunnyside's deck is enormous (the largest on the lake?) and virtually no one comes to Tahoe City in the summer without stopping at Sunnyside. Nothing beats sitting outside at sunset, watching a full moon rise over the mountains in the alpenglow, enjoying a delicious adult beverage and zucchini sticks while eyeing the talent. Unless it's sitting outside at sunset, watching a full moon rise over the mountains in the alpenglow, savoring a filet mignon and lingering over a deep glass of Cabernet.

In the winter, Sunnyside's charms are even more homey: gleaming wood and polished brass, big roaring fires and fat, comfortable chairs, glowing warm lighting, and outside the windows, crystalline-cold night air and the glittering stars. The atmosphere is cheerful, homey and relaxing, in an honest way. Evidenced by a bar full of locals and regulars, Sunnyside is so welcoming that many consider it a second home. On a weekend night, or the Wednesday fish taco events in winter, the cheerfulness becomes heightened, and once again, it is the place to be for a good time after dark.

To me, Sunnyside feels like home. It seemed so natural to stay overnight; I should have been doing this all along!

Room Tip: The view from the lakefront rooms deserves 10 stars. It doesn't get any better.

First thanks to all Sunnyside staff for making our pre- Xmas stay so delightful. Special thanks to Matthew, Diana, Lindsay and to Allie. S who made us feel like family. What a wonderful warm group! Great restaurant, superb bar and wonderfully comfortable sleeping rooms. Our view overlooking the Lake was beyond marvelous, cozy comfortable beds and all of the comforts of home and more. Breakfast in the 'nook" with spectacular lake views was always delightful. We can hardly wait to return to this delightful spot. Thanks all at Sunnyside from Ginger, Mike and GUS

My family stayed here for Thanksgiving. My love and I stayed in a suite with a wood fireplace. The fire is ready to be started with a easy starter and re-setup each day ~ just call the desk if you run out of wood! Also, we had a porch to sit out on in the summer. My parents chose a lake view room with a balcony for the summertime ~ Just a beautiful view. Other family chose a partial lake view with a pullout sofa for the kids. All the rooms were quite comfy, although if you are light sleepers be careful to be away from the road (hwy 89) and I understand it is even busier in the summer.
They serve a continental breakfast and afternoon tea for the hotel guests. Many of the standards (coffee, tea, OJ, cereal, whole fruit, bread/toast, yogurt) and wonderful muffins & scones, the highlight is the frittata served with salsa and sour cream on the side. I, for once, found a breakfast worth staying in for! The staff is right there at breakfast to take away plates and refresh anything you need.
Also, regarding the Thanksgiving meal at the lodge, They served a very nice typical turkey dinner along with a host of other choices! Included in dinner is the pumpkin pie. Then, they pleasantly surprised us with turkey sandwiches to take home. The one thing I always miss if we are out for Thanksgiving is leftovers, but not this year!
I look forward to staying there again.

Room Tip: There are two rooms that are close to the highway, which you don't want if you are light sleeper...

We really enjoyed our three nights at Sunnyside this October. The lodge has a cozy, comfortable feel to it that was welcoming and relaxing. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable with quality linens and a comfy duvet. The pillows were, in our opinion, too soft (they were down). We were brought thicker pillows (non-down, for people with down allergies) as soon as we complained. (They still were too soft for our liking but better.) We were in a room in the 20s (22?) but didn't hear the road at all. We barely had a view of the lake from the deck, but the good news about being that far down the hallway is there was a lot less foot traffic in the hallways. They had high-quality Aveda toiletries. The lodge was in a great location - quiet and peaceful but a quick drive to Tahoe City and Truckee.

My husband & I were visiting Lake Tahoe for the first time and WOW what an amazing place!! We stayed at the Sunnyside Lodge and it is a real treat for anyone that LOVES the spectacular views of mountains, sunsets, sunrises, and of coarse the gorgeous Lake Tahoe.
The Lodge was very nice. As you enterd into the lodge it had a very warm feeling of being home. As you walk through the lobby you go out onto their fabuous outside deck overlooking the lake. The marina is right next door so you could see all of the boaters coming in and out of the area. It's a great place to enjoy all the beauty of what Lake Tahoe provides.
The room we stayed in was a lake view and it was on the corner which had even better views. The room was very cozy and clean. The bed had a down comforter which is always nice to have when you are traveling away from home. They had afternoon tea and cookies between 3-5 which was a nice treat. The area these were served was upstairs and they had a small library of reading material of all sorts for guests to enjoy, The view from this area was amazing as well.
The staff was very friendly and accomadating. There was always enough space for everyone to enjoy their meals and cocktails. We sat out on the deck and ate our dinner as we watched the sunset. I'm sorry but it doesn't get any better than this. If so please let me know where I am missing out.
The area is in Homewood which is a quaint little town. There is a small grocery store real close that is handy for guest. While you are there I recommend you renting a boat and take a cruise over to Emerald Bay. It was a BLAST!! The Sunnyside Marina is right next door so very easy to rent boats and other lake toys. Being on the lake just gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that will stay with you forever!!
My husband and I will definitely be back at Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge. I hope your stay is as good as our's was.:)

Room Tip: Corner rooms facing the lake are spacious and have excellent views.
