“A bit overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2012

As California residents, we are lucky enough to be able to do a lot of wine tasting. We have visited wineries in both northern and central California, and a couple of wineries in Pennsylvania and Virginia. But in all of our travels we had never traveled south to Temecula. So in December 2011 we took advantage of a TravelZoo getaway offer and stayed for two nights in Temecula. The first winery we visited was Ponte. We were staying next door, so it was an easy choice. The tasting room is lovely, filled with all kinds of souveniers and wine and food-related knick-knacks. But we were there to taste wine. The tasting is $12 - a bit high compared with other places we've been - and they did not offer to knock the price of the tasting off the purchase of a bottle. That would have been nice because their wines are pretty pricey. The wines themselves were okay, nothing spectacular, but okay. We prefer dry reds, and their drys were a bit sweet for our palates. If you're looking for a lovely room to taste wine, and you're not too discerning about the wine itself (or the cost of tasting it) then you should enjoy Ponte.

“Wont be back. Bad wine. too expensive for tastings..”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2011

too expensive for what you were getting. Wine was very poor. The pourer even said "its ok for our crummy soil" ! Wine tastings are $20 a person. Very small pours. Only real positive thing - nice garden lounge area. nice gift shop and hostess was very friendly .

“To much marketing for me”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2011

If you like a Cracker Barrel gift shop you'll like this place. This place is to junked up with knickknacks and just stiff for me. Way to much marketing going on for me. This place is highly rated and the wine is fine but the environment is less about wine and more about purchasing! They do pour a nice size sample.

“Exploring wedding venues”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 November 2011

This winery is gorgeous! We visited this venue to research wedding venues for my daughter. The grounds and wedding facilities are top-notch. However, it has been a challenge working with our "assigned coordinator" so we haven't booked this venue for that reason. Hoping we can work it out with them. The coordinator is so non-responsive.

We had lunch twice, yum! Scallion oil to die for!. Food was excellent and wine was fabulous as was the service. Hoping we can work with Ponte for my daughter's wedding as it is a very nice venue,
