“Loved the Dunes!”
Reviewed 16 February 2010

I just stayed here for a romantic Valentine's Day weekend and had a really wonderful time. I hadn't heard of the place before but it is in a beautiful and quiet area only about 20 minutes from Monterey and Carmel.
The unit, Pelican 67, was clean and spacious and well equipped. It would be a great place to come with another couple or your family. We sat out on the balcony and watched the waves crash and woke up to a view of the ocean every morning from the master bedroom. It was so relaxing! Our days were mostly spent down the coast but we were able to stop at the store in Watsonville and cook dinner as well which was a great option. The condos seemed full of people but it was very quiet both day and night.
Sitting outside with a glass of wine listening to the waves never gets old! I will be back!

Spent a weekend here. The condos are beautiful, although the second bedroom is small and dark. The master overlooks the ocean with a patio door that allows you to hear the waves. The condos are well furnished and comfortable. Easy to walk down to the beach. Bring a flashlight for night times walks.

A newspaper is delivered daily--a nice touch.

Our meals were catered as this was a conference. The first dinner was positively mediocre but they improved a lot after that.

Don't miss any opportunity to walk on the beach, collect sand dollars, build sandcastles and spot sea lions or dolphins.

Although we wanted the bigger ocean views that the upper floors have, my elderly parents needed to be on the ground floor, but we were not disappointed, you could see the ocean while sitting on the deck, or from the kitchen & living room, and it is literally just steps out to the beach. Spacious, with nice decor, and everything you need for a nice stay, the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of pots & pans, dinnerware, etc. Great place, we will be back!!

We had a great time at Pelican 63. The condo was in good shape and had all we needed for cooking. The view was great and the very short walk to the beach was perfect. The beds were remarkably comfortable! The only negatives I can think of are that it was pretty windy on the beach. We've mostly stayed in Santa Cruz and I've never experienced the wind like this. Had it been sunny it might have been fine, but it was pretty cold so I noticed it a lot. The remote location could be both a plus and a con. I liked that we didn't feel the need to leave the condo/beach. But i also sort of missed the ability to walk to a coffee shop.

We stayed for a week in unit #115, and had a great time. The condo is very clean and well-equipped. Loved that we could see and hear the ocean from the balcony. Best views were from the master bedroom window. Would definitely re-book here.

This was my 5th trip to Pajaro in that many years. Every year in March, I and 7 of my best girl pals go to Pajaro Dunes for our annual getaway. I have stayed in 5 different places - 4 condos and this year in a townhouse. I have absolutely no complaints at all. We started staying in the Shorebird condos when our group was smaller, and each year graduated to a larger home. We stayed in the Cypress 1 towhhome - 3 levels, 4 bedrooms, 4 bath, on the beach - what more could one request? For those who like the day trips, there is Santa Cruz, Capitola and Moss Landing. For those of us who like to veg out on the beach - you can't beat it. I like Pajaro so much I am going with my husband next year. The only drawback to Pajaro is the inconvience of packing your stuff in a cart up a pathway...but to me that is part of Pajaro's charm.

Shorebirds #37 -For the money paid - what a disappointment!
We arrived late at night and when my girls went to bed the sheets had not been changed! I called the next day and had to leave a message during office hours. No one came by ever to make the changes, then claimed they never received the call. This unit, while some pretty granite remodeling, has the original stove (circa 1965) in place and one frying pan for a unit that sleeps 7! Breakfast took 2 hours. The master bathroom had granite tiling and then an old cheap plastic shower. Many, many maintenance issues, shower door not working, bathroom handles broken, no decent coffee mugs and old style furnishings. Towels were left in the dryer. I am on vacation - am I supposed to fold towels? Never again we will stay there.
