“Loved it!”

Our family tries to stay at places that are affordable. On our recent trip, for the first time we tried Quality Inn and were very happy. Wonderful beds! and the hotel at Canon City has a neat history of celebs who have stayed there. The restaurant....Shooter's is EXCELLENT. Don't miss the burritos and say hi to Shannon for us! Free hot breakfast!

This is the first review I've ever written, but I was so let down, I want to warn other people. When staying in Canon City, we had to choose between Quality Inn and Suites and EconoLodge. Wanting the nicer of the two, we chose Quality Inn and Suites. What a mistake that was. It's on the edge of town in an industrial area, and the front desk service was confusing/unfriendly/not helpful. We only got 1 room key for 2 people. The door knob in the bathroom fell off. It smelled a bit and was outdated. Only one ice machine for the whole hotel. The hot tubs were in a weird room, luke warm, and had quite a few bugs in them. The pictures on their site are quite misleading, the hotel is not as nice as the pictures look. The TV reception was fuzzy and our remote was missing a back to it.

The only redeeming quaities were the friendly bartender and the warm breakfast. Think twice before staying here.

Room Tip: They have rooms where celebrities have stayed, like John Wayne and Jane Fonda. This was probably bac...

We stayed at the room with the 3 queens and I have to say that parts of the stay were amusing and others a little upsetting. The amusing? The beds apparently are Murphy beds so they have hydralics that lift them up. (I have never seen this before), internet only worked in the lobby area; food quasi edible but the waffles were make your own and were really good; pool was ICE COLD in August; sheets so rough, you get a rub burn; air a little hard to get to a good temperature; got to sleep where John Wayne and Charles Branson stayed and apparently we got to use the same stuff.

Not so amusing;maintence having to fix the toliet that later stopped working; leak in the ceiling over the frig area; carpet nasty looking; the two boys across the hall that were left by themselves so that the youngest was screaming, running out of the room crying for mom. Saw both adults next day with the kids and they had nothing to say as why they both had to go to get medicine (that was reason they told front desk) and left the kids by themselves.

We stayed here for one night before going whitewater rafting and ziplining and royal gorge.
The hotel room itself was ok. The room was relatively clean, but its pretty worn down and old. The breakfast was pretty good. Would actually give this place 4 stars, but I think charging 100 bucks is a little steep for the quality of hotel that you're getting.

We travelled to the Quality Inn just a few days ago, and when we first walked in, the scent of the hotel was musty and smelled of stale smoke, mixed with a little chlorine. We visited our room, which seemed clean. The toilet wobbled when you sat down on it. The sink held water along the backside and the plug for the hair dryer laid right in the water, with little room to put it elsewhere on the counter. The beds were fair, with very little noise from the main street just outside. With four ladies trying to get ready in the morning was interesting. There was only one available outlet that wasn't covered by the bed or the dresser and it was by the air conditioner. There wasn't a mirror by that outlet, so needless to say with four ladies trying to get ready for their day and only one outlet available outside the small, foggy bathroom, it was inconvenient. We visited the hot tubs, which smelled of chlorine, but the water was cloudy... The breakfast was a nice assortment of food, but it wasn't hot as they claim. It was lukewarm at best. However they did have a microwave, so you could heat up your food. All in all, it was okay for the price. The location was convenient for our trip to the Royal Gorge.

The service-- terrible
The breakfast -- decent
Location-- best thing about this place
Rooms-- average Deffinately old and averagely upkept

Front desk was ok when checking in. Then went to crap to find someone working the desk rest of the weekend. Rooms have power extensions instead of remodeling but I can deal with that. Housekeeping TERRIBLE make 1 of 2 beds and took 0 trash out of room. Breakfast in the morning is ok until the first batch of anything runs out. Then here comes cold eggs, cold biscuits, cold gravy. Then you must wait in line 15 minutes for microwave. Easier just to goto McDonalds down the road. Small swimming pool with 30+ un-chaperoned kids so don't plan on getting in. 2 hot tubs with about 15-20 kids so don't count on relaxing with your other half in one. My suggestion is spend a few more dollars and stay at the Hampton. If your on a budget and not interested in good housekeeping a quick and easy breakfast or swimming or hot tub then it's a great place. If you are looking for those things then look elsewhere. Sorry but that is the way it is

Noting fancy but great for those on a budget. This place has been aaround for decades but has been kept in fairly good condition and there wasn't that musty smell that some old motels/otels have. Though it was full and near a busy highway we found it to be fairly quiet. For the price the rooms were decent, the staff were informative (for me this is always important) and efficient. My grand kids discovered that someone had dropped some cookies behind the nightstand. I called the front desk just to let them know, they were there pronto, apologized for the mess (it wasn't a big deal), and after picking up the cookies offered to get someone in immediately to vacuum, again apologizing.
The breakfast was great - coffee, decaf, tea, milk, juices, rolls, biscuit and gravy, eggs, fruit, waffles, and cereals. The only complaint is it could have stayed open a little later (though they did give, nicely, fair warning of the closing) for late rising families, other wise it was excellent.
Some of the interior rooms have doors that open unto the pool. A couple of small complaints here. There needed to be more towels available poolside for the full house they had. The floors near the hot tubs when wet are very slippery and I saw a couple of young ones fall.
Overall, for the price I would use it again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Book through a service like Expedia. Sometimes it is cheaper than an AAA/AARP discount.
