Don't let the location and exterior keep you from finding this amazing place. Their lamb tagine is amazing complete with saffron (the most expensive herb on earth).

The atmosphere is very nice and service is great.

Caspian Cafe looks like a tried and true local favorite and the food is the reason. We visited on a Thursday night and found the place nearly full at 6:30.
My wife and I had egg plant in spicy honey sauce, Caspian salad, mousaka and lamb tahini with apricots and almonds. Every single dish was excellent - the mousaka and lamb tangine were especially exceptional.
The menu is far more than the typical Greek or middle Eastern restaurant. There are dishes from Morocco, Spain, Turkey and Iran. I would love to be able to go back and try more of the menu.
Warning - serving sizes were huge. One of the entrees would have been enough for two. Unless you have starved yourself all day, be careful about ordering too much.

We came here for dinner after hiking at The Garden Of The Gods. The first thing I noticed as we drove unto the parking lot is how delapidated the place looked. It seemed dirty and in need of power washing and a new coat of paint. The outside seating looked dirty and unkempt. The inside decor was no better. There were pots full of old fake flowers that are mostly dirt traps. Everything about this place shouts to me that they are resting on their laurels, the tourist industry is alive and well in Colorado. The food is "Mediterranean style" We enjoyed the falafel appetizer the tahinni sauce that came with it was tasteless and the yogurt sauce was OK. We ordered the kabob plate and the lamb shank. The lamb shank was tender and the balsamic reduction with fava beans was tasteful but very salty. The kabob plate was a disappointment, in taste and presentation. Normally kabobs are chunks of meat marinated in herbs and spices served on a skewer or the chunks are taken off the skewer by the cook once the meat has cooked. These were to me baked. There was a meat loaf of a lamb/beef combination that tasted a bit suspect not fresh and I am happy to say did not cause me any distress. The chicken was a small breast cut lenght wise and marrinated in a tasteless marinade. This was served on a bed of basmati rice surrounded by pita bread and topped with white onions.. There were some tasteless tomatoes that could have used a marinade before before being charred. This restaurant needs an update and maybe a different cook if it wants to continue charging the price they are charging for their food.. I felt that the food was not as good as everyone else says it is. I will not return.

While on the way back from a disappointingly snowed out Pike's Peak trip, my wife found this place on TripAdvisor and wanted to give it a shot. Thankfully, it was a true pick me up from our disappointment on the mountain! Large portions of delicious, Mediterranean based food filled us up with plenty to take home as leftovers. Staff was friendly and efficient and the food was awesome.
