We love this hotel! Always really clean, friendly staff and great pool and hot tub. They did a great job of making us feel safe including providing guests disposable gloves for the buffet and all food either individually wrapped or served to you by staff. The views of Pikes Peak are amazing!!

Room tip: As for a mountain view!

The Holiday Inn Express on North Spruce Street in Colorado Springs is exactly what a hotel should be. They have taken the precautions and are still providing the services and amenities you expect and pay for, including gym, pool and breakfast. There were even complimentary newspapers, though I would much prefer the local Colorado Springs newspaper over USA Today.

Staff were extremely polite and professional. Tori/Torie at check-in was the best. I hope she is promoted within the company because she has the potential to be a manager one day. It's rare you come across someone like her.

My only complaint was room maintenance and housekeeping. Some of the walls are scuffed and scratched. Same for some of the furniture. Likewise, the shower had grime or mold in a couple of places. It's time to start doing some of that maintenance now.

The gym was excellent. It would be nice if they added a digital scale to weigh yourself.

All things considered, I will return. I just wish more Holiday Inn Express hotels were as nice as this property. Too many are using Covid as an excuse to cut costs, services and amenities without reducing rates to compensate for the decreased value.

We stayed at this hotel over the Labor Day week. The moment we walked in, none of the 4 workers were wearing their masks. The receptionist didn’t even have it and excused herself, walked TO THE BACK ROOM, and then put it on. We felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe staying here. We even spoke to the manager face to face letting him know that the technicians, BOTH receptionists and maids either didn’t have a mask on them, or they were not wearing their masks. We did let the manager know we have picture evidence and that during COVID, it’s mandatory these masks are on (there were many warning signs too all over the hotel). He stated he would immediately let his staff know that the masks are mandatory. We went to grab our belongings and checked out right away and upon returning the key, the same manager we spoke to didn’t even have a mask on at the front desk. Clearly, the same manager didn’t speak with his employees nor care considering five minutes later he didn’t even have the mask on him at the front desk.

At this rate, after speaking to the employees at the hotel, the manager on duty at the hotel, and speaking and leaving a message with the corporate IHG, they have not taken any of this seriously by ignoring and not even responding to the issue.

We called corporate and still haven’t even received a call back regarding this. This is unacceptable during the times of a pandemic. For anyone who cares about their health along with others, please do not stay here. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

This hotel was adjacent to the highway, but took some navigating of city streets to actually get there.

Check in was very quick. The evening desk clerk was very helpful and pleasant. she came up with dinner recommendations for both nights we stayed there.

The room was huge. Almost a suite. 2 TVs, a couch, big bed, even a table and chairs.

Everything was clean

The bathroom was nice and big. There were plenty of towels.

The TV was big and had a good selection of channels
There was a fridge and microwave

There were 2 air conditioners in the room

The bed was very comfortable.
Room lighting was good and there were plenty of outlets

The pool was odd shaped, but clean. The hot tub appeared to be clean
The gym was quite nice. Newer equipment and free weights.

Breakfast was the best of the week. REAL hot breakfast buffet. They had gloves to use when dishing out food and required masks at all times so it appeared safe.

If I had any complaint about this hotel it would be the proximity to the highway. The road noise was pretty bad in our room. Earplugs would be a necessity. Ask for a room away from the highway and you should be fine.

Overall the stay was a good one.

Room tip: ask for a room away from the highway
