“Food good, service lousy”

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Lodge (review elsewhere), and decided to eat here on two mornings before heading out to ski. Since it was a serve yourself buffet, you'd think that the service shouldn't be much of a problem. My personal feeling is that they do not have enough staff to serve the number of people having breakfast. Also, given the price, they could hire more staff.

Anyway, while the food was good, one morning they ran out of bacon and the next morning, they ran out of hashbrowns. There was also no yogurt as they had run out of that as well. Finally, even though we only had coffee and juice it was difficult to get someone's attention to get served.

Again, I don't think that the waitstaff was as fault. It just appeared that they did not have enough people to serve.

The service was excellent and the food quality was good. We were snowed in and did not want to try to drive to Crested Butte.

Price to high for the service and quality of the food served. The service team was unable to keep tables cleaned off to allow for customers to sit.

Very good food, great variety, nice portions and very good service. Just a little a little expensive but convenient and within walking distance of Lodge at Mountaineer Square.

Your only option for breakfast is a scrumptious buffet with made to order omelettes, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, french toast and all sorts of goodies...for $13.50. It's a little pricey considering you can go across to Camp4Coffee or Sweet Spot and get a breakfast sandwich or burrito WITH coffee for $7-10. BUT it's yummy...however, do NOT order the bloody mary's. They use plain tomato juice and they're bland, boring and not tasty at all.

They're closed for lunch, but dinner has some tasty options, again on the pricey side. Room service shuts down at 10:30 too. There is a nice cozy table or two right by the fireplace which is really nice. There are just too many other delicious, more unique options in town to rate it as excellent.
