Nice hotel but expensive - stayed two nights - room was large overlooking the Animas River - bathroom was large with an additional sink vanity in the outer area - the floor said that it was a Hilton member floor - had to pay for parking. Had dinner in the restaurant the first night, no wait, good food, reasonably priced. Hotel is located within walking distance of the Durango Train Station and downtown Durango. Hotel staff was friendly and informative.

We tried to stay down the street but there were no elevators to the second floor where rooms were still available. We could have walked the stairs but we had a ton of stuff in the car that I would never leave in the car overnight. So we backtracked to the Double Tree.
We are Hilton members so I thought of earning a few more points. The room was about $40.00 more than we are accustomed but we were tired having driven all day. We wanted to stay in Durango so we could purchase tickets for Mesa Verde National Park. Breakfast included? Continential breakfast is $14.00, full breakfast $22.00 and oh, there is a parking fee to park your car on their big lot.
Gift shop not open, carpet although attractive southwest theme was filthy.
The front desk young man was very nice. Wish he had told us of the parking fee. This is Durango not Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco. If you stay here be aware of no free breakfast, parking fee and pay more for the room. We will not stay here or anywhere in Durango. I have better ways to spend the money we make.

Great location within easy walking distance to downtown Durango. Right across the parking lot from Albertsons if you want to stock up on food or drinks for your travels. Room was very nice overlooking river. Truly no down-side for this hotel. Had an upgrade breakfast package for an additional $20 (for two) and while you could also order off the menu, the breakfast buffett was exceptional with made to order eggs and omelets.

Room Tip: Second floor balcony facing the river which was nice. 2nd floor is also where you enter so there was no going up or down elevators.

Very comfortable beds and nice rooms.
Ours was a river-view room with balcony and the Animas River right there.
Very nice breakfast area with many options available.
We have stayed here several times.
This has always been a great stay.

Our experience at the DoubleTree Durango could not have been better. The helpful desk clerk gave us our preferred riverside room that included an air purifier, a good thing during fire season although there was no smoke in the vicinity during our one night stay. The room was clean, the bedding superior, and the amenities top notch. Although some reviewers were upset with the small parking fee, the downtown riverside location and beautiful public areas were definity upscale, but the total price was really very reasonable. Also, our breakfast in their restaurant was superior to those in the nearby family restaurants.

Room Tip: The small additional charges for riverside balcony room and "Pure" rooms are well worth it.
