“Nice Updating”
Reviewed 26 April 2012

This Hampton Inn is going through renovations and is very nice. Seems like they should be done by May but do ask for an updated room. The bed was great.

Location is on the far side of town so you have to drive or take the trolley to go into town.

Service was great.

We stopped here for the night on our way to National Parks in Utah. The room was nice, beds were comfortable, breakfast was excellent. The staff was very nice and helpful, from the front desk to the breakfast staff. The rate was reasonable, good value. We will stay here again.

We hope that your trip to Utah was enjoyable. It’s such a beautiful time of year to visit the Southwest region. The weather is great and the crowds haven’t arrived yet. We do invite you back to visit again and hope that you will take advantage of our local National Park, Mesa Verde. We expect upon your return that you will be greeted by our great staff, have a restful night sleep in the Hampton’s “Cloud 9” beds, and enjoy our free hot breakfast.

They were just completing thier makeover, redecorating. The new design was nauseating! bright orange and brown striped draperies, and orange and brown carpet. Orange? Really? I felt like I was back in the early seventies eating at a "Sambos pancake house ", The design was ultra modern Danish and the decor did not bode with the Colorado Rockies Photography on the walls. The bathroom floor looked like grey rubberized slate and the furniture was like all Formica, as if straight from Ikea Store! It was such a disturbing combination, I seriously thought about checking out before we stayed the night.
I had looked forward to the breakfast as they are usually pretty good at Hampton. I was very disappointed. The food counters had not been tended to. The selection was minimal and fruit not fresh. Even with the waffle I baked,I had to scrape out batter from the bottom of the container and it cooked up soft and soggy. The scrambled eggs were obviously a dehydrated mix and dry and crumbly. If you're having juice and granola with a little yogurt, you are safe...otherwise...hmmm
Our bed and linens were clean and comfortable, however it was hard to go to sleep because the neighbors television sound was blasting through the room's adjoining door until midnight.
At this time of year, there were many other options I could've made...oh well...

Diane P we appreciate your feed back and that you took the time to submit your review on Trip Advisor. We are disappointed that our décor did not appeal to your personal taste. I must admit that your comments took us a bit by surprise. We have received consistent positive feedback about the changes we have made to the hotel. Our brand surveys conducted by Hilton have shown that the guests have enjoyed the current renovations and have placed us in the top 15% of all Hampton Inn’s on guest comfort, breakfast hospitality and for our friendly front desk staff. Color and décor is a very personal thing and the Hampton Inn brand really tries to remain current and appealing to all our guests. Its funny how things that used to be “old” are “new” again. Who would have thought that neon would return to fashion on the ski slopes? But here we are back to orange, greens and gold’s making a come back, yet with a modern and current flair.

It is encouraged that our guests let the front desk staff know immediately of any situation that does not meet your standards, or is making your stay with us un- enjoyable. If we are aware that a problem exists, then we can try to resolve the issue immediately. Your comfort and enjoyment of our hotel is our priority.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel new and very clean, free breakfast, nice workout equipment. The only draw backs are rooms are a little small and the hotel is a drive to the historical part of town. But nice pool, nice beds just enjoyed the stay.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Durango Hampton Inn and took advantage of the free breakfast and the hotel facilities. The advantages to staying with us on the North side of Main Street is the availablitiy of free and abundant parking, quiet mornings, and the views of the north valley. We are only a 3 minute drive to the Historic Downtown district and 3 and half minutes to the train depot. If you would like to access the downtown area but not deal with the hassles of driving, a free town shuttle runs regularly into town. The trolley stops directly in front of the hotel. This really saves you the hassles of finding and paying for parking and is a great way to explore town in the evenings for dining and shopping.

This is one of the better Hampton Inns we have stayed at. The rooms have been recently renovated, so there's a newer feel to the rooms. The breakfast is about the same as everywhere. The pool is bigger than average, but since it's indoors, it's REALLY loud when it's crowed. As with almost all Hilton properties, the beds are very comfortable. Nice, attentive service. Would come back here in a heartbeat.

Thank you so much for your recent stay at the Hampton Inn in Durango and for taking the time to submit a review on Trip Advisor. We are so excited about the room renovations that have just been completed on our rooms. The look and the new convenience are a direct result of listening to our lodgers needs. When staying in our new rooms, we hoped you noticed the abundance of outlets to accommodate your electronic needs.

The pool is one of the most used features in our hotel. It is large and accommodates a lot of people. Since Durango is a winter ski destination, we felt it was important to make the swimming pool and hot tub available all year long, which is why we built it indoors. Although it can be noisy during peak use times, it’s very quiet most of the day.

The hotel is small, but very clean and comfortable. Our room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The pool area was neat, clean and had plenty of towels. The breakfast area was always clean and well stocked. The breakfast was different each day we were there but both days offered a large variety of foods to choose from. Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate were available 24/7 in the lobby and cookies were set out each afternoon. Brian checked us in and was there throughout our stay and was extremely kind and helpful. It was so nice to work with someone who was willing to accommodate all of our needs and do so in the friendliest manner.

We are so glad you were able to come and enjoy our completely renovated rooms and hotel upgrades. We are very proud of the look, feel and comfort of our new rooms. The staff always makes the comfort of our guests a priority, but now they have excellent room accommodations to back up their hospitality. A different hot breakfast is offered each morning, with something for everyone. Its a great way to start your day before you go and discover all that the Durango area has to offer.

The friendly staff gave me great advice about where to go for dinner (Old Tymers: $5 burger, $1.00 draft) and a dozen other little things that made my stay in Durango a pleasure. With modern, freshly remodeled rooms (plenty of outlets) and a tasty hot breakfast, this hotel is a great value. I've already booked a room there for my next trip to Durango.
