This once grand hotel with a lot of history is sadly in need of updating. We stayed in the 3 bedroom suite (room 101) with a small family group. Lots of beautiful windows, 18+ ft high ceilings, but no AC to combat all that wonderful sun that comes in. In the huge living/dining room area all the windows are painted shut so you can't open them for ventilation. It would get so warm in there it defeated the purpose of renting the room with a large space to spend time together with the family. Each bedroom had a box fan you could put in the window so the room temperature finally got nice by around 3 AM. our room had a king bed which was way overdue replacing, soft, saggy, & very jiggly, just plain uncomfortable. The pillows were all lumpy.

Bathrooms are also old. With a pedestal sinks and very little space to set your travel kit, toiletries, etc.

Family members staying in the single rooms had similar comments.

In general the decorating seemed to be all about the historical look but not functionality.

There were also a lot of people who brought their dogs to the hotel. I do love dogs, but don't want to hear them barking when I'm trying to sleep or relax in a hotel. But, maybe that's more of an issue with a few irresponsible pet owners.

I will say that the staff were all friendly and would try to help when asked. The location is good. It's a short walk to the hot springs pool or into town where most of the better restaurants are.

Room Tip: Don't go in the summer unless you like sleeping in a hot room.

This hotel was a disaster! Other than the great history & very nice staff, the hotel itself is terrible if you want to sleep in peace & quiet & stay cool. There is No air condition and it is just next to the I-70 Highway which is adjacent to a train station! Each floor accommodates pets and we were awake most every night with barking dogs, tractor trailers, train whistles and to top it off..too hot to sleep rooms! Never again! Would recommend the hotel affiliated with the Spa of the Rockies just next door with Air Condition, Hot Springs admission & breakfast included for a bit more.

We are sorry to hear that your visit to the Hotel Colorado did not meet your expectations. When the hotel was built it was to be the business and social hub of the entire area and was positioned as such ie. near the train station and other commercial travel routes. The Hotel Colorado prides itself on being a social center and a historical icon. Due to this distinction, the hotel does accept dogs, children and anyone else looking for a truly unique experience in downtown Glenwood Springs.

It was a wonderful weekend in that historic hotel. Have been told, that this old hotel has no AC, but the big fan in the room was just the right size for cooling down the room in the night! Enjoyed the beautiful view to the mountains and the great historic place. If you ever come to Glenwood Springs: Stay in this hotel and enjoy the atmosphere in the lobby and the large hallways! You'll feel like you are living in times of the first settlers. Don't miss the Hot Springs and the Adventure Park! And also have a large Margarita at the Mexican restaurant "Fiesta Guadalajara" next to the hotel.

Staying at Hotel Colorado reminded us of the movie Somewhere in Time. It's a Victorian hotel with great history. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and our room did get very hot. You will want to ask for a fan, if there is not one in the closet. We especially liked the outdoor patio in the evening. A negative is that hotel parking was limited
