After Thanksgiving Stopover

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 3, 2015via mobile
Marriott provides a comfortable and clean lodging near downtown Glenwood Springs. They offer senior discounts which saved me considerably compared to some other hotels in the area. Sally at checking gave us a quiet room on third floor. The one thing I may suggest is that the heat fan never stopped even though we had thermostat set lower. It made the room air quite dry. The bed was comfortable and room area adequate. They don't offer complimentary breakfast or coffees. So we ordered rather than go to another restaurant. The service was good and food was fine although a bit expensive.

I didn't expect that I would give a Courtyard a 5 star review but this hotel tries so hard and succeeds. Upon entering, the lobby is super smart and stylish- a small restaurant with either basic seating or round booths each with their own TV- for sports buffs. A second lounge area has a giant gas fireplace and large TV, plus internet stations. It was all so inviting! The front desk staff was prompt and helpful and their side food shop was appreciated. The pool was too small for anyone to use- at least every time I looked.

For only $20 more than a room, we took a large two room suite. It was SOOOO clean! The bathroom is well laid out and on the larger side, the bedroom was the size of most hotel rooms and the sleeper sofa was sufficiently new and comfortable. There was plenty of furniture for storage and a small fridge which everyone appreciates. My only knock was- where was the safe? I expect one if every room I stay in! - same as running water and a bed. It should be part of any room experience. Yet the staff was quick to offer to hold valuables in private lock boxes behind the front desk, so it showed they cared.

I would recommend this hotel and certainly look forward to staying here again.

Room tip: stay on the top floor so you don't hear footsteps from the guests above you.

We stayed here for a quick weekend staycation. We had a room with a king bed and fold out couch. Our daughter stayed on the couch, and once it was extended, the room was very small! The couch bed was rather uncomfortable (as most are), but thankfully, the 10 year old was exhausted and didn't seem to notice.

Good stuff: free wifi, and computers in the lobby in front of the fireplace, only 5 minutes drive from downtown (less really), nice work out room.

Room tip: Choose a top floor room- kids running around above us was a bit noisy.

A nice New facility. Not downtown but the Bistro helps solve eating issues for late arrival or breakfast. If visiting Glenwood Springs we would definitely stay here again. Great facility and staff. Thanks!

Taking our second visit to Colorado in the past month, we had the fortune of staying here while home shopping in near by New Castle. This property do not let us down. As with all of our stays at Marriott properties, we were pleased with the friendly staff and the cleanliness of our room and the hotel. This property is close to the freeway (with no freeway noise), and it's also close to shopping, dining, and downtown Glenwood Springs. Wonderful location, and great hotel!

Room tip: Ask for a room looking north across the 70 freeway... beautiful mountain views.

We liked that it was close to highway but far enough that noise was not an issue. Target & other shopping places in case you forget something. Also, plenty of restaurant. Only issue with CourtYards is that they do not offer any type of breakfast & they are no different than The Residence Inn which does offer breakfast. Also, on our way out, a potential customer walked in & stated she had reward points & wanted to know how to use them & how may points this hotel was & front desk person told her to go on line & she could reserve that way. Front desk could have been more helpful. On may way out I decided to help a fellow traveler & gave her the 800 rewards toll free # & explained if she did not have a tablet or smart phone they could help her over the phone, also suggested that she reserve for same points across the parking lot at the Residence, which includes breakfast, that made her day. Hotel does have a small bar, which has beer, wine, liquors, we did not use this service. Also, thin walls, able to hear everyone & anything above or beside us.

Thanks for the review! Please note that we are unable to book Reward stays on property - these must be booked by contacting the Marriott Rewards Desk. With our customer service training we hate to be unable to accommodate guest requests however this is one that we must pass on to others. I do appreciate your very positive comments and hope to see you back with us again!
