This was to be just an overnight stop on a longer trip from Colorado Springs to San Diego. That's good because I would not want to stay there any longer than a single night. The only good thing about the Silver Spruce is that the beds are good.
Here are the issues I have with this motel:
*The rooms are not secure - the deadbolts are plugged so they do not work and there are no other security devices to prevent entry to the room. The lock is just a doorknob with a privacy-type interior lock. This kept me from a sound sleep since I was traveling with my wife and two teen-aged granddaughters. This is unacceptable.
*With two double beds, the room was very cramped. The bathroom is tiny.
*Although billed as non-smoking, there are ashtrays screwed to the rails on the balconies so smokers are everywhere just outside the rooms.
*The property is very run-down in appearance.
*The breakfast was okay but the breakfast room was very crowded and noisy and the staff was not keeping the breakfast items replenished (It did not help that there was very rude and boisterous crowd of tour-bus travelers,).More
