We only spent one night here, but woild have liked to stay longer. The cottage with 'bunk' queen beds was terrific, all brand new, everything you could possibly need was there. Eye-popping beautiful view of Sangre de Cristos. Great service too, my daughter left her necklace behind, they mailed it to us and it arrived home before we did:-))
Hillside was a jewel in the outback, with exceptional views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It was too cold to sit out on the deck chairs to simply take in the stunning views. But after several days of flyfishing the Arkansas, I was able to return to an exceptional cabin that far exceeded expectations (and was warm at 9 degrees). So a tip of the hat to the owners for an outstanding place to stay for anyone fly fishing the Arkansas watershed or planning to do anything in the area.
This was our second trip to Colorado with the first one being way back in 1978. The moment we walked in we fell in love with the floor plan, arrangements etc.
The most important point is that the beds were absolutely the most comfortable either of us had ever slept in. My wife is very hard to please with a mattress and she slept better than she had in years.
Our most enjoyable venture was right on the property watching about 18-20 deer just walk all over the place like they owned it.
We enjoyed Westcliffe to the south and a day at the Royal Gorge. We aren’t spring chickens being married 50 years last March but if we make it back again I believe this will be our target to hit. Very nice accommodations.
Stayed three nights in between snow storm weeks and totally enjoyed snow capped peaks, quiet, stars, mule deer, and central location to Westcliffe and Canon City.
Cottage was tidy, comfortable, well stocked and decorated. Good tv reception for election night and wi-fi signal strong. Look forward to return in summer when warm enough to sit outdoors and just “be”.
The cottage is spotless and very comfortable. The large bunk bed was the feature piece. Every inch is well thought out. It was nice to have a kitchen to cook breakfast and enjoy a cup of coffee before we set out on our planned adventures. We were spoiled by the provided Rosemary Mint shampoo and body wash. Wonderful seating outside to enjoy the stars and moon.
Highly recommend!
Stayed at Hillside as a pit stop to acclimate on our way to the Rocky Mountains. It was very Quaint, Clean & Wellstocked. It snowed on our way in, and the property was a winter wonderland! Enjoyed playing in the snow. It was super quiet with a relaxing atmosphere. This little community has an antique functioning post office and the lady there was very nice. The essential oil bath products were a nice touch! Our GPS was a tad confused finding the location, perhaps an exact longitude and latitude measurement on the website would be extra helpful. Found this problem a lot throughout many Colorado areas. Would definitely book again here. A little hidden gem off the beaten path! Thanks Hillside for the pleasure of a visit with you.
The perfect place to enjoy each other's company. All the comforts of home with the mountain views and stargazing you would see if you were camping. Peaceful, very clean. Loved the fact there was no cell phone or wifi so we could truly relax in this day and age. We stayed for our anniversary as is centrally located near attractions we visited -- The Royal Gorge Railroad and Bridge, The Smokey Jack Observatory in Westcliffe, CO, Salida and the San Isabel Mountain trails.
AMAZING, we will return with our friends and family. Staff and owners are great!
