Dakota Lodge at River Run Village
Reviewed 9 January 2016

Stayed in 8520 on fourth floor. I'll start with the positives. Underground heated parking was ideal and very convenient. Dakota Lodge was easy walk to ski lifts and just a few steps to the shops and restaurants in River Run village. Nice hot tubs and heated pool. Elevator was quick. Our room had great view of the slopes. Also it was well stocked with basic amenities ( plenty of toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing detergent, etc.) next door to laundry and stairs. I was worried it would be loud since we faced very popular hot tub area, but 10 pm to 8 am quiet hours were adhered to so no problems there. Several cozy fire pits to gather around in river run village. Great well stocked little general store just beyond the pool area with good inventory of groceries, liquor and gifts. Appreciated the extra blankets, pillows and fans in the closets. 2 baths were both spacious and well appointed with deep tubs. Booking through Summit County Mtn Resorts was great- we enjoyed good discounts on lift tix and ski equipment rental.
Negatives: our unit was not very clean. Rugs were filthy, floors were sticky, countertops were dirty upon arrival. Bedding was substandard. The cabinets were well stocked but left no place to put our food away so we had to pile everything on the counters. One of the stove burners didn't work. There were 7 remotes in the unit for three tvs (one in each bedroom and one in living room). Instructions for using the living room tv were wrong. TV reception in bunk room was very poor. 2 of the 3 washing machines in the building were broken throughout our stay. We called first night for help with tvs and other concerns. We were told someone was on their way but they never came.
Would we stay there again? Yes. Pros outweighed the cons.

Room Tip: Pick a room facing the slopes. Good morning sun plus the view of the skiers was amazing. (Even numbe...

So disappointed! Booked this place back in November for my kids' and my sister's kids Christmas present. Nice, friendly guy on the phone assured us things were all taken care of, 2 rooms together, ski in/ski out. WRONG! We were put in 2 separate buildings and they made no effort to fix it only gave us granola bars! We had to walk a quarter of a mile to and from the gondola in ski boots carrying our equipment. That was fun with a 9 and 6 year old! I will take my money & kids elsewhere next time!

The location of this property could not be better. We walked to the gondola in the mornings, had a nice dip in the hot tub in the late afternoon, and cooked dinners near the fireplace at night. Can't ask for a better vacation in the mountains than that! The check in and check out process was seamless and all our questions were answered. Parking is below the building on the basement floor, just an elevator ride down from our room. So easy. Highly recommended.

We rented Dakota 8512 and were satisfied, not "wow"ed. We rented through summitcove.com. It is a ten minute walk to the gondola, but no problem. The usual amentiies - under building enclosed parking garage, hot tub, free wifi, slope-facing balcony, nice fireplace. Nice adder was a humidifier, which I highly recommend. We have also stayed at Arapahoe and Red Hawk in the past, they have a bit closer location. Summitcove.com service was fine. Wifi was slow.

Keystone is beautiful and the River Run Village was great. Dakota Lodge location was ok, a short walk to slopes. We were not happy with our unit 8514. The walls needed a paint job, the beds were horrible(mattress pad crinkled when moving), bathroom floor had black hair in corners(we are blonde), and the heat would not turn off even when we put it on the lowest setting. Our friends stayed in unit 8498 and it was big and very nice....stay in that unit if you want to be in the Dakota Lodge.

Just came back from a 3 night stay in a 1BR/2BA condo at Dakota Lodge. The view overlooked the heated pool/jacuzzi and the slopes. Across the street was the ice skating rink and it takes only 10 minutes to walk to the River Run gondola. The only con was the one elevator in a small hallway which gets crowded as it is near the ski lockers. Overall would recommend for families who want access to all the restaurants/shops in the River Run area and do not want to drive after checking in to their condo.

I had a wonderful time staying at the Dakota Lodge Dec. 7-14, 2013. My 2 bedroom/3 bath condo was very beautiful. It had two king size beds and a trundel bed with full size mattress. I probably was fortunate to get this condo because I ran a trip that had 31 individual staying in the village. We were in the Dakota Lodge, Buffalo Lodge and Expedition. Not all condos are the same. Some are much more spacious than others. Unfortunately we were there during some brutal low temperatures and the units' heating could not keep up with the cold weather. The management either gave each unit space heaters or tried to accommodate us with switching units when another became available. Each condo was given a bottle of wine upon arrival and if there was a problem it was fixed in a timely manner with a phone call to follow up on our request. There were not many Lodges that were very close to the mountain but it was a short walk and they even supplied wagons to help haul your equipment to and from your Lodge. We had a very good time and the whole mountain was open considering how early in the season it was for skiing. One thing that was different from any other place I've been is they don't supply housekeeping at all, just towel changes at midweek.

Room Tip: Top floor units seem to be more spacious.
