Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 12 October 2011

My family and I spent two wonderful nights at the China Clipper. I agree with all the other reviewers about the excellence of the property. I will just add a small anecdote about the innkeepers' dedication to their guests. After our first night at the Clipper we awoke to about 6" of new snow. The snow had been swept from the windows of our car, as well as all other vehicles parked in front of the property. Little considerations like this speak volumes about Hans and Ingrid being exceptional hosts. Until next time . . . .

We stayed overnight in this wonderful inn. The property was beautifully furnished. We received a warm welcome on our arrival and enjoyed the delicious breakfast. The inn is well located close to the town with many good restaurants close by. Our room had a dvd player and we watched a film from their collection. We would look forward to staying at the China Clipper Inn again.

Wow! What a treat to walk into! Hans and Ingrid are the perfect hosts to such an amazing place. The inviting entrance guides you into a Victorian feel with rich colors and soothing decor, the perfect way to start a romantic vacation! Our room was so clean and comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Our hosts were so influential on our decisions of where to dine, and I wouldn't have asked for better suggestions! And then the best part, The muffins!!! Han's and Ingrid personally prepare the most important meal of the day, and with there special touch makes it a perfect way to start the day!
Thank you so much for such a wonderful and unforgettable weekend!
We will definitely be back!
Sincerely,
Taren

The other reviews say it all. This is a wonderful place to stay. It is an inn that was built for guests. It has a New England Victorian look to the outside and traditional design inside. The dining room has a beautful all-wood traditional table and the wall of the front porch is glass, offering a great view. Lots of nautical things inside, as this was built by a former Navy man. Sitting room has comfy chairs and a nice fireplace. Hot tub is outside in the back, a short walk from our room.

Rooms are very comfy. We were in one of the less expensive rooms and it still was quite nice. It had a four poster bed, writing desk with chair, an easy chair and fireplace. We were across from the dining area, so it was a bit noisy in the morning, but not for long.

The inn keepers are warm and friendly and answered our questions with a smile (the same ones every guest asks probably). Breakfast includes all the things you associate with a good continental breakfast as well as potatoes, eggs, meat and muffins.

It's worth a stay. We hope to return.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are quieter, but you pay more.

Really enjoyed this inn. The hosts Hans and Ingrid were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was great. Nice hot tub once we figured out to use it. Hans is one of the best muffin bakers in the country. We will easily go back as one other guest who had been there 4 times already.

Room Tip: First floor is easier to get your luggage in and even the room next to the kitchen was quiet.

I love the town of Ouray and have found a great place to stay. The Innkeepers, Ingrid and Hans are so much fun, and do an outstanding job. The inn is spotless and the breakfast is the best in Ouray. The muffins alone will keep you coming back. Can't wait for my next visit.
