“Great Summer Retreat”
Reviewed 13 July 2011

We chose a unit on the third floor, on the end, with a completely un-hindered view of the mountains. Each unit is decorated differently; ours was charming, friendly and warm.

The reason I'm not giving it five stars is guests in a second-level condo were loudly talking on their cell phones on their patio, and at midnight, a couple was shouting in the lot. It would be nice if The Villas were able to implement a policy of quiet enjoyment.

The Concierge was friendly and very helpful, and in fact, friendly than most.

Just a stone's throw from Aspen, this is a lovely summer retreat!

Room Tip: Make sure to request a third floor, mountain-view room :)

3rd year generally at Snowmass Club; 2nd at Villas across street. Terrific location on large lawn area yet right near club. Amenities included in rental. Great pools for kids; fabulous fitness for adults. Camps up at Snowmass mountain not cheap but well worth money. Kids love every second. Really perfect family spot. Drawbacks: some units are nicer than others (decor, kitchens, televisions, laundry facilities, view) and they won't guarantee unit.

This place is not on the ski mountain but makes up for it with great amenities and excellent value for high end place. Definitely would return.

Extremely close to 2 Creeks Lift line. Quiet place to start and finish your ski day. X country skiing on site. Excellent club with complete gym, indoor tennis, 2 pools and three jacuzzis. Mostly renovated apartment with excellent wood burning fireplace.
Very good housekeeping services and an excellent concierge. If you have young kids in ski school probably not the best place to stay as you are not convenient to the school.

Me and my family have been staying at the Snowmass villas for almost 20 years now or so. The villas are very spacious and comfy. Beautiful views of the mountains and the property is very well kept and beautiful. The tennis facility is out of this world if u are a big tennis player. The golf course last time i was there was being built but looked nice. The lodge is beautiful with great spa and pool facilities. There is not much to say because this resort is very simple. They have laundry stations at every villa complex. The restaurant is excellent on a regular basis.

Snowmass Village is also very simple but one of my faovrite towns. The town market is very nice and has a lot of fresh items. It is about a 2 minute car ride from the villas or a 5 minute walk.
There are ski slopes right near the hotel but kind of wimpy. Other than that there really is not much to the town. You have to travel about 30 minutes to Aspen for shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and the REAL skislopes. If you are thinking about staying in a very high end luxury resort, go to Aspen. If you want beautiful spacious villas and dont mind limited service (ie no in room dining) stay here! We really loved cooking breakfast or going to the restaurant ourselves. The town is also much quieter and quaint than Aspen, and there are still many activities to do. Feel free to contact me with any questions!

OMG!!!! Ah-mazing!!!
We started by getting there late at night, tired from a long drive from denver and we were greeted by helpful friendly staff members. They took our rental car and luggage back to our condo and took them out of our car and into our condo while we enjoyed a spectacular meal at the Sages(their on-site restraunt.) When we got back to our condo we found 2 bedrooms both magnificent, a pull out couch, a fire place, a dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen. It was amazing! The next day instead of having to drive ourselves to the mountain there was a shuttle service directly to the lift and returned every hour. The Shuttle service also conviently took you to the snowmas village and to all the other surrounding mouintains. It was very relaxing to know that after a hard days of skiing there was a warm van ready to pick you up. Oh and by the way the skiing was great! If you didn't want to ski one day, they have a wonderful health spa including a waterfall, a lap pool, a regular pool, and a hot tub. It also has fitness trainers, magnificent locker rooms and more! And, if you are a cross country skier, they have beutifully landscaped golf courses which are perfect for skiing on or even sledding on with the complimentry sled that you can use while staying there.

Amazing, Amazing and Amazing. Two bedroom condo was better than home. Stayed during the Fall. Got a Great rate during the down season and saw the beautiful aspen trees changing. Resort massage was the best that I have ever had. Food was good but we enjoyed the grill on the balcony more.

Our family has stayed at the Snowmass Club around New Years for the last 3 years. We really like the Aspen-Snowmass area, and the Snowmass Club generally fits our various needs very well.

Here are the positives for someone staying here for a ski vacation: the units are good sized (the 2BR units are about 1000 s.f.) and they are tastefully decorated, updated and maintained (granite countertops, leather sofas, nice tile and stone in bathrooms, fireplaces, many with vaulted ceilings); the main Snowmass Club lodge is great (huge and luxurious exercise facility, large swimming pools, hot tubs, indoor tennis courts), really excellent dining at Sage---the Snowmass Club restaurant, daily maid service (unlike many condos), good transportation service to slopes or into Aspen at night. It suits us well since it has some of the luxuries and facilities of a hotel or resort, but the condo-style units provide extra room to spread out, which is a big plus when you have kids, skis, and lots of heavy winter clothes!

In spite of all these positives, there are a few countervailing factors that prevent me from giving me a 5-star rating. First, its not on the ski mountain, so you have to take transportation to get to the slopes in the morning and to return at the end of the day. Second, most of the villas have outside entrances into the units, so it gets chilly (at least in the winter) if you want to leave your room and walk a block or two to the main lodge where the restaurant and pool are. Also, the elevators are few and far between, and fairly slow, so if you're on the 2nd or 3rd floor, you'll probably end up walking up the stairs most of the time. While these are not huge negatives, the Snowmass Club is fairly expensive, so the standards for comparison should be pretty high.

Important note: there are a variety of accomodations at the Snowmass Club---make sure you understand what you're getting. We have stayed in the Snowmass Club Villas, which are freestanding condo buildings a block or two away from the main Snowmass Club Lodge. The "Residences" at the Snowmass Club is something different---these are the fractional ownership units, which are newer, larger, and more expensive than the Villas. The Residences are located inside the main lodge at the Snowmass Club, so you don't have to go outside to go to the lobby, the restaurant, or fitness facility if you're staying at the "Residences." (money may not buy you happiness, but it will keep you warmer).

The Snowmass Club fits our needs well---it might be an excellent choice for you, too.
