“Clean, reasonably priced, great location.”

This is one of the most reasonably priced places to stay in Steamboat, and is a fantastic deal. If you can, try to get a suite. The suite we stayed in had hardwood floors, awesome rustic furniture and granite counters in the kitchenette and bathroom. It felt quite luxurious. The free breakfast is also great with options like bagels, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, donuts, fresh fruit, toast, and a variety of spreads. Best of all, this place allows dogs (although we were told some rooms are pet-free for allergy sufferers). I would definitely recommend the Nordic Lodge, and I know it's where we'll be staying next time we're in Steamboat

Before we booked into this property we put a lot of thought into whether we wanted to stay slopeside or downtown. We definitely made the correct decision to stay downtown. Steamboat is such a great little town with individual shops and restaurants - not much evidence of corporate giants that is was much easier to immerse yourself into the town by staying downtown. Had we stayed slopeside I'm convinced we would have missed out on an awful lot - in particular the winter carnival which we lucky enough to watch during our stay.
The lodge is on what I'd call the edge of downtown, we wouln't have wanted to stay any further down the road. It's right across the road from the ski bus in the morning and in the afternoon it stops practically outside. This meant that in the morning we had no problem getting on the bus.
Our room was a little on the small side compared to other motels we've stayed in. Having said that it was big enough. It was spotless as was the bathroom. The tv was a little on the ancient side (CRT not flat screen) but we didn't go to Steamboat to watch tv. And as other reviewers have commented the wi-fi signal was sometimes weak but we didn't go to surf the net all day. Breakfast was better than anticipated cereals, fruit, muffins, donuts, bread, waffles bagels etc. with the added bonus of coffee being available all day. We certainly didn't feel the need to fill up with anything else until later in the day.
Greg, the owner, was always present at breakfast to answer any questions or help with restaurant recommendations. In fact just talking to him opened up a whole new world of possibilities for us regarding food and drink.
As previously mentioned they scraped the snow off you car if iit snowed. But they went further than this. We were asked to leave our car keys when we went skiing so that they could clear the car park of snow and they did this every time it snowed. This may not sound a big deal but we later stayed at accommodation where they didn't do this and the car park was like an I've rink!

I would thoroughly recommend the lodge to anyone and couldn't imagine paying the over inflated prices to stay slopeside

We stayed here for two nights mid-week in early January. Price per night was reasonable. We had a one bedroom suite which was towards the back of the property, which was nice and quiet. This is a family owned lodge, which is always nice. The owners are right on site and very helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The room was small, but was fine for the two of us. Had we had more than two people, it would have been tight. The furniture is a bit dated as is the television (which really was too small for the room), and the wireless service was weak, often not working at all.. The futon sagged on one end. The location is very convenient, right downtown... Within walking distance to all shops and restaurants.

All in all, as does every hotel, it has it's pros and cons.

Room Tip: Try to get a room towards the back if you can. I'm not sure if traffic noise would seep into the...

Just got back from a trip to Steamboat with my boyfriend who spends 4-6 weeks there every winter. He is very picky and will stay nowhere but the Nordic Lodge. We had the king apartment and loved the convenience of the kitchen and living room area. We walked to dinner at a local restaurant every night. The staff is great in so many ways. If it snows during the night, they will sweep the snow off of your car. Also, we were in and out of the room all day and they would somehow clean the room when we were not there - it was amazing!

Room Tip: If you are bothered by traffic noise, I would recommend a room further back from the street.

The Nordic Lodge was well run by a lovely couple with kids of their own. This property has been in their family for years, and they take care of you like you are family as well. Rooms were ample in size and very clean. This is a value property where you will be treated very well. The staff went above and beyond for us, even lending us personal wine glasses and bottle opener while we were staying - "as long as we weren't using it on box wine!" They also had great spread in their free breakfast. Location is perfect for downtown lodgers - right across the street from the free bus service. We enjoyed the Lodge and look forward to returning again in the future.

We stayed at the Nordic Lodge for 2 nights Jan 20th & 21st and loved it. Number one is the location - right on main street in Steamboat - walking distance to all restaurants, shops, etc. The free shuttle has a pick up right across the street for the slopes. We had the king suite which was just like a condo with a full kitchen (granite countertops) , breakfast bar, couch, 2 chairs, bedroom and full bath. It even had a built-in desk - all for a fraction of the price of the "mountain condos". We will definitely be back.

Spent one night at the Nordic Lodge in downtown Steamboat after a week long stay up on the mountain. The Nordic Lodge had very clean rooms, comfortable beds, a reasonable price, and they are an easy walk to all the downtown bars and shops. They are right next to the Creekside Cafe which has the best breakfast in Steamboat. I would recommend the Nordic Lodge to my friends and family and will stay here again.
