One of the things that we liked so much about Trappeur's Crossing was the variety in the lodging -- some units are nicer and more updated. Other units are more outdated and may or may not have air conditioning. The best part is that when you plan a reunion, families from all budgets can make it work without feeling that the lodging is too expensive. The best room we saw was Bear Lodge and we had a lovely four bedroom room in Emerald Lodge. They also have ground level floors which many resorts don't seem to offer in Steamboat.
There are pools at each of the buildings and the amenity center pool is indoor/outdoor which the kiddos love!
There is a store you can walk to -- but the prices are what you'd expect in a mountain town. And you can walk to the base of the gondola in three blocks.More
