Pros: Green, mowed grass play fields. Two ponds. Kid's playground. Drinking water and restrooms. Covered picnic tables and nice BBQ Grill. Groomed walking trail. Location.
Cons: No Fence.
We visited Bighorn park in the hope that Taz, our 13 month old water puppy, would see dogs swimming and retrieving toys in the two ponds and he would copy them and learn to swim. After a few times of chasing a toy into the water with the other dogs, he finally kept going when the water got too deep, swam to the flippy flopper and kind of retrieved it. We apologized to the toys owner, He just laughed, pulled out another one of the toys, and we threw to Taz and their dogs until we were all tired.
After lunch Taz and Nakita still wanted to play, even though they had been at the park for more that two hours.
There were a lot more smaller dogs visiting than at Stephens Park, the west Vail off leash park. Being in a mountain resort, most of the dogs we met were over 50 pounds, all were very friendly and sociable.
This is Taz and Nakita's new favorite off leash park. What's not to love except the lack of fencing, like most of the off leash parks in the Colorado Rockies.
