Lunch food was fine. Service very good. But be careful ordering drinks. We ordered Bloody Marys. When the bill came, we found those to be "Bloody Mary Absolut" at $8.95 per. There is no need to use premium vodka in Bloody Marys unless somebody wants to jack up the bill. Ask about drink prices. Obviously these folks are into making an extra buck or two on drinks.

We received a coupon as a birthday gift from friends for this restaurant.I made reservations online via messenger as they do not open until 4 pm on Saturdays. They responded quickly that they would be able to accommodate our group of 4. We were greeted by the staff professionally and courteously. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The waitstaff was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Alex answered all questions with great enthusiasm. We even ordered a SPECIAL not on the regular menu - Chicken Parm!!! others had Penne Ala Vodka, Spaghetti Bolognese, and Shrimp Scampy - all were delicious!! Jason the owner/chef stopped by our table and was very engaging! We asked about them making Veal Parm and he said to call ahead a few days in advance and he will be sure to have it for us. WHAT A WIN!!! We even had desserts and coffee/cappuccino - again all delicious. I highly recommend adding this restaurant to your list. We will be back to have the Veal Parm. Oh, they also do Sunday Brunch!

We've never had a bad meal at Cafe Mangia, and we've eaten here several dozen times over the last eight years.

Now that Mangia has a Happy Hour menu, we'll be here more often.

My spinach salad serving was more than generous, the three eggplant rollatini were delicious, and my glass of happy hour chianti was excellent. My wife had a small spinach salad, a shrimp cocktail, and a beer.

Every food and drink item earned an A, as did our cheery, efficient waitress.

The total bill was less than what we'd spend at the Taste of Hartford--and close to home!

We visited Cafe Mangia with another couple for an early dinner on Saturday. Made a reservation through Facebook earlier in the day. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed and the young crew were inviting and attentive filling water, answering question and generally friendly. Alex was our waiter and she was fun, knowledgeable and point on. The owner and chef Jason visited the table after the meal to meet & greet...nice touch. I had spaghetti bolognese topped with a 8oz meatball and it was delicious and a great value. Others enjoyed shrimp scampi, penne ala vodka, and a special off menu request for chicken parm. Dessert, coffee and cappuccino topped it off. The cannoli dessert is served with 2 cannoli which Alex beautifully plated separately for us. I highly recommend Cafe Mangia for your next visit to quaint Colchester, CT.

We went a few times when we moved to Colchester. Food and service was great but menu is limited. On our last visit we both ordered the pan seared scallop special and a caraf of sangria. The scallops were sliced in half so it appeared to be more than it was. And the sangria had very little alcohol in it which I didn't notice until it was all gone and I didn't even have a buzz. And I am a lightweight when it comes to drinking. We won't go back.
