Have played this course on several occasions 1-2 times each year, and look forward to it every year. Usually we start with a relatively early tee time with our foursome and we have a nice time on a very good course, which is challenging but reliably in great shape. Several blind shots and a few holes with manageable forced carries that usually bring the last few holes in play for the round. We usually settle our debts in On the Rocks the local restaurant on the course for lunch. Another great day with friends.
Golf was good as usual. Friendly golf staff. Great time on the course. After golf proceeded to restaurant. Our party of three was clearly a bother to the staff in the bar. Greeting was cold, "seat yourselves", only to then be ignored for the next 30 minutes. Wait staff clearly saw us, but chose instead to remain glued to their cell phones, and talk among themselves. When we were finally able to get their attention, the server taking our order was totally bothered and shared a less than pleasant attitude. When our food finally arrived it wasn't very good. Hot appetizers and main entrees were cold. We did not have silverware (got it ourselves from another table), were not asked how our food was, were not asked about dessert...basically, it seemed the point was to make us feel as uncomfortable as possible so we would leave asap. The best way to sum this up is wait staff was "snotty." Will golf again, but will find someplace else for drinks and food!!
Fox Hopyard is awesome. The course was fun, scenic, and in great shape. There's a beautiful practice area and the staff was cool.
The restaurant is awesome as well. It's got a nice bar and a huge patio. I got the hillbilly Cuban which was unreal. There's plenty of options on the menu, and a good selection of craft beer. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food too.
Even if I didn't golf I'd come eat here.
Tough but fair course. Well
maintained course and fast greens. Interesting design. Interesting New England style course with lots of local character. Five par 3s and four par 5s make this an interesting and challenging layout.
I took advantage of the Taste of Middlesex County. Dinner was from a price fixe menu. The choices were good and the amount of food was abundant! I loved the atmosphere, our waitress was very nice and my 3 course meal was delicious!
The Fox provides challenges for even the best golfers. Narrow fairways, elevation changes, risk/ reward approaches, water and deep bunkers demand planning and execution. The clubhouse provides light food and there is a full restaurant in a separate building. The practice facilities are complete with a range, putting area and practice traps.
