It is a sad testament to hotels in this area that this is the second best hotel or motel in the area. We visit family in Branford and typically stay at the Holiday Inn. That was full, and we ended up here. The rooms were clean and the motel provided what is expected of a roadside motel. The price was slightly high for the product, but that can be attributed to the high cost in the region. On the negative side, the room we had was a cavernous converted conference room next to a very loud elevator. (Who ever heard of a room with no bedside table?) Avoid Room 212.

Property looks brand new, but apparently has been open for a couple of years. Very clean, well maintained. Had a great stay. Convenient location to restaurants and sites.

We stayed here for three days as part of our vacation and I must say this may be the nicest Comfort Inn I have ever stayed in. Very very clean, very nice and helpful staff. You have to remember it is what it is...if you come here expecting the Hilton you will be disappointed. However, if you want a clean, comfortable room, a hot shower and a smile when you check in, then this is the place for you.
The only reason I give it a 4 instead of 5 is the continental breakfast left a little to be desired (scrambled eggs, but no bacon or sausage??), and the beds could have been a bit more comfortable. Otherwise, if you need a centrally located, reasonably priced hotel in the Guilford/West Haven area, then this is where you need to stay.

This hotel is attractive and clean, well-lit, in a location on the edge of Guilford. It was easy to find, close to beach and the center of town. The staff were friendly and ready to help with luggage. I had a ground floor room with 2 double beds for myself + 3 children (one in a cot). There was plenty of room. This was a standard hotel room, very clean, with all fittings in excellent order. The beds were exceedingly comfortable, and even though my room was on the road side of the building, I never heard noise from the road, nor from other guests. The breakfast was excellent, with hot coffee or tea, cereal selection, hot scrambled eggs, make-your-own waffles with strawberries, and a small selection of breads (bagels, sweetrolls, English muffins, etc.).

This is not a 5 star resort, of course, and my high rating is based upon comparable mid-range hotels.

Since no one has reviewed the Comfort Inn for 8 months or so, I can confirm that it is keeping up its high standards: basic but very clean, well-maintained, pleasant and engaged staff, quiet and (as the name suggests) comfortable. Grabbed a danish and muffin on the fly so cannot properly engage in the breakfast debate. I had trouble getting connected to the Internet with their wireless system but there is a free troubleshooting service you can call and they got me online (sort of). If you're staying in the area and are not looking for a premium hotel at a premium price, check out the Comfort Inn -- excellent value for the money.

My wife and I stayed here one night in order to be in Guilford for an annual 5K road race (the "Sea Legs Shuffle") that started early Sunday morning. Rather than drive from a distance that morning, we decided on this Comfort Inn, as there weren’t too many choices from which to choose.

On the plus side: it is a fairly new hotel and it is clean and well-maintained. It is very convenient to the highway (Rte 95). The bed was comfortable and the room had a microwave and a small refrigerator (and a room safe for which we were charged for even though we did not need it or use it). The bathroom was more than adequate: clean and with the usual amenities. The hotel is fairly close to the town of Guilford which was charming (nice ‘New England’ town green with shops and stores around it and close to the shore).

A previous reviewer commented on the ‘great breakfast’ that the Comfort Inn provided. I beg to differ as we decided, after scanning and sampling the meager, store bought offerings (not-too appealing muffins, pastries, etc.) to have breakfast elsewhere. The scrambled eggs were weird looking, un-egg-like to say the least. I just had to have a taste – yuk! The coffee was OK though.

Other than that, we had no complaints, but then again, we were there for a brief stay. I’d recommend the place – but have breakfast in town. There’s a really nice coffee shop (great coffee, fresh pastries and fruit, jazz playing on the radio) right on the green. And, the 5K race was great - couldn't ask for better conditions in which to run.

Clean room, clean bathroom. Good network or wireless connection, very easy to use.

We stopped there late at night, and except for the fact that it was nearly $200 and the desk clerk didn't know the difference between a "queen" and a "double" bed, it was a decent night's sleep.

The beds are pretty stiff and seem new enough for comfort. Lots of pillows to make yourself comfortable as well.

But enough about that - the Breakfast included was great! Waffles, french toast, eggs (hard boiled or scrambled) as well as bread, danishes, muffins, cereal and, of course, New England Coffee.

It almost justifies the cost of the room!
