Every single item we've ordered and sampled has been excellent. Often busy, so call ahead to order. A family-owned,delightful and old-time Italian experience. Hooray for Mozzicato!

Absolutely horrible!
We pre-ordered a strawberry and peach whipped cream cake and it was extremely dry, and they forgot the peaches. It tasted like it sat around for a week.
This was a second chance visit, and once again they failed.
Never again would I go there.

I have been a customer of Mozzicato’s pastry shop for over 20 years.

However that has come to an end.

Sadly this business is no longer representative of the quality products
the man whom started this business was known for.
The key to a good Italian pastry shop that creates amazing pastry:
a) one who sells all its product before it gets old & stale.
b) one who throws out their product once it’s old & stale instead of keeping it in the display because it still “looks” beautiful.

Fellow shoppers: please realize that Italian pastry (Zeppole, Tiramisu, Rum Baba etc), when fresh, is incredibly Soft, Moist, almost melting in your mouth.

A fresh pastry is not dry! A fresh pastry is not coarse nor is it hard!
(unless you are purposely buying something like a Cannoli or a Lobster tail)

In the past 2 years, Mozzicato DePasquale pastry shop, has sold me:

2 old, stale rum cakes
(the cake in a “rum cake” is soaked –the fact that BOTH were mostly dry is an incredibly disappointing fall of quality!) not to mention these were very expensive cakes “made to order” supposedly.

On 3 different occasions:
Several old, stale pastries (rum baba’s should be wet when fresh, Tiramisu is soaked in coffee….when these pastries are mostly dry several times over several months = we have a problem!)

If you can, shop elsewhere, you will be happier.
Yes the products look great & smell great.
If you are *Lucky* they might taste great < that’s a problem.

Note: If you are closer to the Bronx than you are to Hartford, you have Much better
alternatives on 187street, in the Belmont neighborhood.

wow- been here many times, and the items are each delicious and satisfying. This past weekend, I had some easter influenced boiled egg in a challah-type bread concoction that was creative if anything. Also, the bread baked here is used at another of my reviewed places, Toasted, in Downtown Hartford, for their sandwiches. Lovely.
