Huge expanse of sand. Pebble sections. Rock pools. Little caves. Very varied place with loads to explore. No real shops or cafes we could find where we were bar a coffee van. This sold lovely coffee and pastries. Parking could be fiddly. Cars parked leaving a 3/4 gap between so much space wasted. We parked at the river end. There was a lifeguard section on the beach too. Lovely place to watch the sea and watch the world go by, and lots of dogs!

First time visiting this wonderful coastal expanse, it has all the beach types you can imagine along a wonderfully long coastal walk, sandy beach, pebble beach, rock pools, sand dunes, loads of lovely walks. The beach has a public toilet, plenty of parking (though I parked out a little further and walked in), a couple of nice cafes (I recommend the Welsh Coffee Co.).

The only thing it could probably have more of are bins, so we can clean up the human rubbish washed up on the shore to protect our wildlife.

Beautiful, clean wide beach. So many people enjoying a day out when we got there but the beach is vast so not overcrowded. Plenty of room for kids with kites, dog walkers, even a horse in the sea!
Car park had plenty of room.
There are toilets.
We took a picnic but treated ourselves to squid and chips (£10) at a little van parked there. It was delicious and plenty of it served on a plate not in a polystyrene box.
We took a couple of deck chairs and spent a really relaxing day out that didn't break the bank.

Well I love this beach.
We tend to go late on in the day around 4ish when it’s quieter. We head down the far end and normally find a little cove where we sit and watch the kids play and have a bbq.
We park at the top and it’s a bit of a steep walk down but it’s only a few mins walk.

Recently friends of ours visited from Spain and this was their first trip to South Wales. Whenever we visit them, they take us to some fantastic places so we wanted to do the same. During their visit we took them to Ogmore by Sea in the morning, followed by a shopping trip to McArthur Glen (junction 36 off the M4, Bridgend) in the afternoon.

We arrived early with everything that we needed including a picnic, drinks, a beach throw and so on. There was plenty of room to park the car which cost just £6. At the beach there were lots of people enjoying the vast space. It was nice to see children building sandcastles, flying kites and crabbing in the rock pools, and people walking dogs on leads.

The beach was fantastic with soft clean sand and fabulous views. Facilities at the beach were limited, but on the day, we visited there were lifeguards, toilets, kiosks selling hot drinks and an ice-cream van. Near the beach there were some great walks, a campsite at Southerndown, a grassed area above the beach, a river, a castle and several pubs where you could purchase lunch. We will definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone who wants a cheap day out at the seaside without the added costs of arcades and funfairs.
