We stopped at the Red Lentil in July and in October 2011 when passing through New Haven Connecticut, and were very impressed. The downtown location is convenient and the linen tablecloths add class to the pleasant airy room. The menu offers a multitude of inventive choices. I tried the pistachio and herb encrusted tofu over a corn cake, topped with sauteed greens, red pepper and cilantro chutney. Delicious and attractive. My husband was very pleased with the Near East Seitan with teff crepe. The 100% vegan smoothies are terrific. I tried the Bunny Spice-- cashewmilk, banana, cinnamon and carrot juice. On the second visit I ordered the polenta with asparagus-- also delicious and hubby had a fine quesadilla. The beet-potato latkes were also good . And the chocolate cake was moist and rich. Staff is very friendly. I understand that a Thanksgiving Dinner is in the works and this would be a great place to go with the family or friends.
