This hotel checked all the marks, everything was good, clean and comfortable just nothing was memorable about the hotel. It's just a bit standard, but they do have some decent coffee for a hotel. I'd stay here again if in new haven for the money.

I visit New Haven frequently and usually make the New Haven Hotel my location of choice for accommodations. It is a block or two further away than the Omni and not quite as central as the Study but it is absolutely the best value in town.

The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the staff always professional. They renovated the hotel (I don't know how many years ago now) and maybe for some reason people think of it from before but it is a mistake to overlook. The rooms have the contemporary feel similar to recent Hilton or Hyatt hotels and any frequent traveler should be satisfied with the quality of the accommodations, particularly given the fact they are usually cheaper than the previous mentioned hotels.

I stayed at this hotel because it was my last day of work at the University and our apt lease had expired. The stay was excellent. Yes I lived in the city during the time I was working at the University but I have to say, this place truly is at the heart of New Haven. It is close to everything ( i.e hospital, New Haven Green, and Campus obviously.) Just a short walk and you're there where it's happening! Despite what people say, New Haven really has changed alot for the better and has cleaned up a lot too!

Hotel has a retro feel on the outside yet interior is well modernized.

The hotel room is very very clean and the bed is so comfortable. Be aware that you can get "special rates" i.e AAA, military, govt etc. that aren't advertised on the website. I also like the hotel because it had a very retro feel from the outside yet so well updated on the inside.

A lot of night life right around the corner and many not too expensive dining in its vicinity.

Pricing is a little on the high side but everything is relative not to mention one is located in the heart of New Haven. This price is nothing compared to what one is used to paying in NYC.

Room Tip: I would say the higher the floor the better so you can have a view of the city.

Thank you for being our guests at the New Haven Hotel and writing such a great review. We are pleased to hear that our staff, our amenities, and the hotel itself exceeded your expectations.

As you mentioned, the area is rich with restaurants and nightlife, attractions, shopping, outdoor recreation, and arts and culture. Within three blocks of the New Haven Hotel you’ll find the Shubert Performing Arts Center, Palace Theatre, Yale University Art Gallery, Yale Repertory Theatre, and the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

We hope to see you again soon!

We recently attended a wedding in New Haven and this was one of the hotels listed on the bride and groom room block. It was a great choice - older hotel recently renovated - Lovely reception area, rooms tastefully decorated and comfortable, and staff very pleasant and accommodating. Parking garage directly across the street and fee is added to your room - hotel is very secure with your room key giving you access to the garage and the front door of hotel after hours. Buffet breakfast with ample choices! Hotel was centrally located - close to Yale University and The New Haven Lawn Club.

Our stay in the New Haven Hotel made our family holiday celebration one of the most comfortable one in many years. The bedding was luxurious and the staff members were awesome. Unfortunately, we did not dine there for any meals, so we cannot report on that, but if the rooms and staff are any clues, we could imagine that the food would have been just as good.

Room Tip: There are units with hide away beds in couches if you have children with you.
