This cafe has a homey ambiance, a political presence, and a view of the Thames river in the rear parlor to boot. The offerings are as diverse as the clientele. From salads to sandwiches, the serve yourself concept works well, as it is served up quickly, and efficiently. On your way to pick up the choice, you undoubtedly see folks you know, and even if you do not, the customers smile and nod, as everyone is happy to be in such a charming addition to the New London waterfront. Whether you are choosing a salad, a lite bite, or something more substantial, Muddy Waters has what you may be craving.

Our server was not very attentive and the food was not any good. Server did not check on table often and we had to flag down another server to place our order and get our check. The coconut shrimp we ordered was very expensive, so we anticipated it would taste good. Tasted very overcooked and nothing close to fresh. Not worth paying $1 per shrimp but we paid $4 per shrimp.

But if that's not your thing, today's lunch special, among many, many choices, was a sandwich with avacado instead of mayonnaise - absolutely wonderful. The outside deck on the back overlooking the river may not last long after October, but one never knows.

This is a cute coffee shop and restaurant. Lots of memorabilia on the walls. Coffee is fantastic. I had the soup and half hummus sandwich. It was way better than expected. The baked goods looks great, too, but I didn't get anything since the portions sizes on food items are pretty large.
