We were going to a community theater in Woodbury on a Saturday evening and began looking for a place for dinner. The reviews for the Good News Cafe were mostly raves and the owner sounded very interesting. The restaurant is a little quirky and we ate in the Radio Room. The menu was a bit limited with many vegetarian choices. Overall, what we ordered was very good with one surprising exception. For appetizer, the lobster soup was delicious and the hummus with pita and carrots was very tasty. For entrees, we ordered the short ribs and the organic roasted chicken. The short ribs were very good, but surprisingly the chicken was not. Considering the French background of the owner, we thought the chicken was a sure bet. The chicken itself was very nicely done and the portion size was huge. The trouble was that no one bothered to add any seasoning to the chicken. It was probably thought the quality of the chicken would go far enough to satisfy. But that wasn't the case. Some pan juices would have helped. Happily, we ended with the mile high coconut cake which was terrific and too big for two people to finish. Would recommend this place, but avoid the chicken if you're looking for a big flavor entree.
