We were going to a community theater in Woodbury on a Saturday evening and began looking for a place for dinner. The reviews for the Good News Cafe were mostly raves and the owner sounded very interesting. The restaurant is a little quirky and we ate in the Radio Room. The menu was a bit limited with many vegetarian choices. Overall, what we ordered was very good with one surprising exception. For appetizer, the lobster soup was delicious and the hummus with pita and carrots was very tasty. For entrees, we ordered the short ribs and the organic roasted chicken. The short ribs were very good, but surprisingly the chicken was not. Considering the French background of the owner, we thought the chicken was a sure bet. The chicken itself was very nicely done and the portion size was huge. The trouble was that no one bothered to add any seasoning to the chicken. It was probably thought the quality of the chicken would go far enough to satisfy. But that wasn't the case. Some pan juices would have helped. Happily, we ended with the mile high coconut cake which was terrific and too big for two people to finish. Would recommend this place, but avoid the chicken if you're looking for a big flavor entree.

This is our special go-to place! We've been dining here for as long as they've been open. The food, the atmosphere always fantastic! And I love being treated like family. Staff is super friendly and attentive, Carol always comes out to say hello to all her guests! It is , by far, my favorite place to go!

This was such a disappointment!!!
We went with a couple that dine here weekly. Sadly drinks were mixed up and martinis served in not a chilled glass.
Our reservation was at 6 pm and entrees not served until 8:15pm!!!!
My wife and I ordered a dozen oysters and they were served not sectioned from the shell!!!!!
The owner , Carol Peck, came over and asked “ how things were”! When told, she did not want to here and then blamed the waitress, the bartender and anyone else!
She did not want to accept any responsibility!!!!! Sadly, We are local and will not dine here for a very long time , if ever again!
It was one of a very bad experience!

Always different & fresh. Love the small bar area. The vegetarian grilled reuben is yum. The good news martini is made w gin & ginger. It’s fabulous.
